Well I was hoping with the new update this would be fixed, but no such luck ... it never fails.. whenever I try and transfer inventiry from one folder to another or copy an outfit to a new folder my map goes red and I am forced to relog here is a pic.. hope it helps.. The funny thing is I can still move things around in my inventory while the map is red, but that is all I can do, I can't chat, move or anything else. k thx. P.S. This is really beginning to tick me off.. and now every time I get the dang red map and go to relog I have to wait 5 minutes before I can log back in... UGH!

Sensual.. that was happening to me, too

started on Saturday and was doing it through yesterday when I gave up. I would work in inventory and altho I was able to continue, the map went red. I relogged and found that my work was for naught. Apparently, I had been logged out earlier, each time.
Inventory has been difficult to work in since the last update. The new window won't hold still. I choose the file, go to inventory, drag the item(s) over and it jumps down a page or starts wiggling all over so I can't place the item in the appropriate folder/file. I reported it and spoke to LH (Dee Linden) but she was unable to replicate it herself. So, I figured it was the sim I was on. Dreams has been having severe crashing problems consistently for no apparent reason (also reported).
Just wanted you to know that I am appreciative you mentioned it here so I don't think I am the only one. I had given up.
A week or so ago when I spoke to LH about something I was basically told that since no one else had complained that maybe the others that I said found the same thing might be fictitious. The thinking seemed to be that if only one person has a problem with something, it is a problem with the person's computer or how they do something, and not something wider spread.
I think it is more possibly a case of habituation. When I started SL nearly 2 years ago, every bug was a major thing. (and to tell you the truth, we are so lucky that we have some things we didnt then. Everytime you went to change a piece of clothing you ended up naked and that wasn't even a bug.) Updates were random and far between. You had lag for weeks before and baaad lag for a week or so after. To say nothing of the new bugs, etc. Well, after a while you semi-get used to some of the bugs. You know nothing is going to happen about them any time soon. You don't know if it is you or a bug. It just becomes SL. It is buggy.
This is not to say I don't get mad about some of them. Or that I feel content with how some things go. Far from it. And, I still can't figure out why our 4.5 month old sim crashes so much when the numbers are supposedly ok. But, please understand, that there are many reasons that people don't report bugs. And just because they don't does not mean they aren't there. Please take seriously all of our reports.
Just because someone who has assaulted you walks due to lack of evidence, doesn't mean he/she did not assault you.

Jumping on the Inventory issue bandwagon
08-09-2006 16:19
I'll just say to The Sojourner and the other person, ME TOO. I spent a good HOUR the other day, finally trying to organize my inventory, ... I did notice a "portion" of my map going red, then I had to relog...and when I went back into inventory, I found I had wasted and hour. I did a bug report. Hope you two did too.

Sim Crashing Bug
08-09-2006 16:22
or as I call it "The Red Minimap Problem" I'm having the same types of problems that Sensual Casanova and Jonquille Noir reported here. Since Monday, SL has been unusable for me. Within couple of minutes of doing things such as rezzing or inventory management, I lose my connection to SL, the minimap turns red, and I can't move. I was waiting to see if maybe today's release would fix it, but it didn't. Just sent a message to support@secondlife.com [rt.lindenlab.com #374887]. I also started a thread in Technical Issues. It's possible that this is some kind of weird interaction between my DSL provider and SL, but regardless I need some help. Either a solution or guidance about what questions I should ask my ISP.

I'm still looking out for a way for us to repro this on our end, as well as watching out for more Resident reports--seems specific to certain conditions.

Thanx Shack--like Jonquille and Sensual's posts, I've tagged this. I'll have a look at the thread when I can.

Aggregated this as well, Soj--I'm hoping to dive into it. I should merge the threads...
