What causes the avatar to suddenly stop responding? By that, I mean that after I've been logged in for a while, my avatar will suddenly just stop responding to any commands at all. I can't walk, I can't look around, I can't fly, I can't even send IMs, until I log out and reconnect. My connection information says I have no dropped packets and no client lag when it happens, so I have no clue as to what could be causing it, or if there's any fix other than "log out and reconnect".

That usually means you have actually lost the connection to the region you are on. Often the mini map will turn a shade of red when this happens, and the only fix is to relog.
