I was looking in the knowledgebase for info on how to make money and here's a passage I found entered by Jesse Linden on 7-14-2006 : http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=159

From: someone
Stipends:
Each week you receive a stipend, plus a bonus based upon your standing within the community. Your bonus will increase with your reputation ranking; so get out there and start meeting folks! If others give you a positive rating, you will see your bonus grow. So don't be afraid to explore the world, make some friends, and maybe do a little shopping.

Events:
Residents who run popular attractions or throw big events can also earn some money. If you own land, you can collect daily bonus, called "dwell" (a measurement of the time other people spend on your land). As more people spend more time on your land, you will earn more "dwell" and therefore a bigger bonus. Host an event on your land to attract a lot of people, and you'll see your Linden Dollar balance grow!

There is a considerable amount of untruth on matters of some importance sitting in just those two paragraphs.

The Knowledgebase description in the forums page is: "For most questions and issues in Second Life, you'll find the answers in the Second Life Knowledgebase. These pages are actively maintained by Linden Lab support personnel[emphasis added], including information on technical support & handy how-to guides." I realize your staff time is limited but when the company decides to convert from a user editable wiki to a staff operated knowledgebase it seems to me it becomes incumbent on the company to go beyond wholesale pasting of obsolete contents of the old support wiki into the new knowledgebase complete with obsolete mis-information, spelling errors, etc.

It might be better to simply remove pages that are as misleading as that. Correct information is available elsewhere.

If one wanted to notify the appropriate Linden staff about such problems in the knowledgebase in a less public manner than this, would it be appropriate to email the person the article is attributed to? I am of the impression that authorship shown in the knowledgebase in many cases results more from who was running the wiki-to-knowledgebase software for the article in question.

Thanks for the heads up Suezanne! We'll make sure the knowledge base gets updated.
