Okay, this is one of the questions that I cannot believe I'm asking, but is the night sky actually a rendered graphic, or is it generated on-the-fly (as it were)? Either way, who do I talk to in order to get permission to get a copy of it? (And if possible, a copy of the raw graphic, if it exists.) I'd rather not say why, since my reasons involve an idea I hope to market :)

The sky is completely generated on the fly. I've heard tale of scripts that will generate panoramas and the like, so you could probably use one of those to get the pictures you want.

Other than that, OGLE might help.
