this message is born out of total frustration over the last few days with SL.

I have recently persuaded a major UK chairty to build a presence in SL, and make a not-insignficiant investment by way of the purchase and maintenance of an Island.

Having seen the teleport, rezzing, lagg and packet loss issues over the last few days - even on very quiet sims (such as NoNacho) I am beginning to regret ever having mentioned SL as a viable platform.

I have reported packet loss in excess of 30% on a number of occassion to the Live help team - and not once has anyone got back to me with any requests for further information.

it seems right now that SL is creaking at the seams - more and more people coming online - yet the infrastructure cannot cope - even under "normal" load.

I am responsible for aspects of network design in my day job (so i do have some experience here) - and I would lose my job if I suggested to anyone - or implied through lack of action - that a 30% packet loss (even a peak value) was in anyway acceptable. The normal guidelines we work to on our public BB product is that packet loss of 0.1% at peak times must be the exception - not the rule - and the planning rules aim for zero - and we get there most of the time - and we have 8 million concurrent users.

Getting to a peak of 1% must be your initial goal - and soon. Accepting peaks of 30% and higher at any time is simply not sustainable.

My plea to you - get it sorted - or at least answer when residents plead for help, don't ignore us when we report ongoing major in world problems
