Increasing the max number of groups has a significant increase in needed resources: each new group slot means between 1 and {total number of active residents} new groups.

if the primary concern in allowing more groups is the creation of more groups why not have 2 seperate limits? 1 limit for how many groups you can be the owner of and another much higher limit for how many groups you can be in. That way you can have large limits on group count so people can join more groups but a low limit on the number of groups you can own to limit the max potential creation of groups.

Unfortunately the larger the group the more resources it takes as well. Which is why we are so weary of increasing the group limit too far. Increasing it will create both more groups and make groups potentially more resource heavy. With an unlimited number of groups we would have LOTS of VERY large groups, which we currently aren't set up to handle.

However, as I said, we will be watching it after this release to decide the next step. Maybe that is some re-architecting to make it easier to host more groups, maybe we can add some new 'thing' to make it easier to say you identify with a group of people when you don't need the full 'groupness' of a group, maybe it is something else of many possibilities. Or maybe 25 is a good number for max groups.
