So.. what do I have to do to get an entry on the developer directory? I've completed a number of projects, and feel that it is time I advertised my services wider so that people can take advantage of my skills and expertise.
But what are the criteria to get listed? There are a number of 'unmeasurable requirements' listed that can really only end up being down to what mood the particular Linden who reviews it is in that day being the deciding factor of inclusion or not. If your application is turned down, do you get informed why, and given an opportunity to revise whatever is causing the holdup?
Clearly there are far more people offering services over and above the few listed; is it a case of "once on the list, there forever" with no review as to whether they are still worthy of being on there? There are some familiar names - which are those usually chosen and promoted - but others I have never heard of.
Perhaps it might be useful to wipe the list, and invite people to reapply, and include the date that they were accepted onto the programme, and last time they were reviewed.

Second Life Developer Directory
11-01-2006 23:01
Hi, Lewis, and thank you for your inquiry. The Developer Directory ( http://secondlife.com/developers/directory.php) is available to anyone who applies and meets the minimum criteria specified on the Registration page ( http://secondlife.com/developers/registration.php). Linden Lab does not evaluate the capabilities of these developers, but provides this listing as a service to the community. We are in the process of a major update which will provide very clear criteria for listing in the directory. Once that is complete, we will actively recruit Second Life residents to get listed in the Directory. In the mean time, if you meet the qualifications, simply go to the Developer Registration page and provide the information requested. Glenn Linden, Developer Program manager
