IM, Chat and UI fonts rather blurry now in 1.11

Some people claim they can't see a difference. So it may not affect all installations.

The IM font (on my end at least) is very blurry now -- I am NOT, I repeat, NOT running any form of FSAA here.

The UI size is set to 1.00. (that is, 1.00 -- no change)

Note the "W" in World on the menu bar - the entire IM/Chat History UI looks like the fonts are 'smudged' and sort of bicubic resampled down or something.

Hardware:
-Macbook Pro running Windows just to bother zealots. (No, this is not the cause for the bug, thanks.)
-Core Duo T2600/2.16ghz
-Mobility Radeon X1600, 256mb VRAM,
-ATI Driver 8.24-060302a1-031408E
-ATI CP 6.14.10.5185

EDIT: The only way I have found to remedy this on this current ATI system (Windows), is by going into the "ATI control panel -> [3d tab] -> 3d settings for (*)Open GL -> [Custom..] -> Mipmap Detail Level [High Quality]".

this is the furthest notch to the right on the slider.

It will blur the fonts if anything but "High Quality" is set. "Quality, "Performance", and "High Performance" modes all blur the fonts.

I will test on NVIDIA when I get home. I do realize this should have been caught in Preview, but I've been logging in to Preview from my NVIDIA systems and not my Macbook Pro - until today.

Had a Nice Chat with Char while trying out some bug huntin

However would like to share this with all...

For those using ATI radeons (Especially mobiles) post update have you noticed somthing not quite right with the screen fonts, it was as if the aspect ratio was out one line of text clear next line ever so slightly blurred... or just general fonts lookin bad?

Tried Chars sudgestion from the game devs and this works if you have a similar prob,

Download ( Omega Drivers for ATI ver 3.8.252 ) based on latest catalyst - driver is compatible with all ATI cards currently in production and useful for mobile solutions too

THIS DRIVER SOLVES Blurring UI fonts problem.. for ATI users anyhoo

There thats one less prob YAY!

I agree with Dmitri on this one..about things being backwards compatable..while there HAS been a fix found for the blurred text, I for one can't use it. Mainly because I'm computer illiterate to know what sort of driver i have/need and i also wouldn't know where to find the upgrade...any chance we can get that fixed as well? I know it's minor..but my eyestrain is not..

Aggregated. Will coordinate with QA. Thx for the picture--Tateru Nino and some others also mentioned this to me!

[UPDATE] Progress is being made. I learned the following from Joe Linden:

The repro is to open the ATI Catalyst Control panel, set mipmap detail to "High Performance" and relog.

And a temporary workaround is to adjust this setting to "Highest Quality" and relog.

Entered as a known issue and it will be worked on to be fixed.
