buying items from store, do I have to open them there?

I was wondering I have had the following problem only within the past few days. If I buy an item such as a clothing outfit, pay for it, it will show up under object so I think it is there.

Then usually the next day, because I do most of my shopping late at night, I will receive a note that the item I purchased has been returned to me from the place I bought it and it is in my lost and found folder.

So does this mean that when I buy an item that is boxed and have to be opened before I can wear the item, do I have to open the item there at the store and move it to inventory while I am at the store instead of waiting until I get home later? And does this mean, if I don't open the item there, even though it shows as paid and as an object in my inventory, it is actually still back at the place I bought it?

If you are rezzing and leaving things sitting at the store, that's probably why they are being returned to you.

You don't have to open items at stores. When purchasing something, it immediately gets placed in your inventory. Think of your inventory as your permanent "backpack" which travels with you whever you go. :)
