0L$ can become negative? With penalties?

Hello, I have a question that quite honestly bothers me. I asked Live help first to save some trouble, but the response I had received was not completely explained. I would really appreciate an official response to this issue.

Recently I had joined a group which apparently has weekly/monthly fees of 2L$ which, doesn't bother me because I enjoy the group. But a friend of mine had also joined the group and she had 0L$ whens he joined. We had no idea about the group fees at the time but here's the thing that concerns me. The day that the group fee was withdrawn from our balances, she ended up with -2L$... NEGATIVE I was concerned at first so I had set up a object for sale for 0L$ which she could not buy because she was getting a "you don't have enough, please buy some" error. I have a copy of the conversation with live help as well, I will post it here for a official response based on it. The first section was a bit of a misunderstanding but if you read the whole thing it makes sense, Can I get an official word on this? Thank you.

Hello Miles! I've removed the chat log because it was posted unconsensually--please note that the Community Standards doesn't allow Disclosure. :)

I understand what you're saying here. Yes, that's right. Due to group liabilities split amongst members of a group, you may incur a negative L$ balance should it go below L$0. This is expected in such a situation. One example is in About Land > Options tab, if "Show in Find Places" is checked for a parcel of group-owned land, then that L$30/week fee will be split as described earlier.

The solution is simply to acquire more L$ to get back into a positive balance, and if you don't wish to pay those costs, then leave the group. Also, in the near future, we'll have a new Groups system which allows for control among WHO receives and pays group L$. Check it out in Preview.

Take care! :)
