I don't seem to be able to find the tickbox so I can remove the unnecessary clutter like blog comments from the login screen.
Could you point me in the right direction please?

Heya, those aren't blog comments -- they're actual headlines. I think down the line there'll be more ways to customize it, it's still a new feature, so stay tuned. =)
