Transparent Textures??

Hi I have made some textures with transparent backgrounds, before I waste L$ uploading them I wanted to be sure about the transparancies as the SL Uploader doesn't allow .gif files to be uploaded, so I saved them as .tga files but the background doesn't look transparent?

Any ideas?

I'd recommend reading it. A graphic which you want to be a texture with transparency must be uploaded as a 32-bit TGA, and you will see a white-and-gray checkerboard in the background when you upload.
