With the changes in account registration which mean that there is now no age verification at all when opening accounts, where exactly does this leave Teen SL and, more importantly, the main SL grid?

It would seem to me that removing the age verification through credit card etc. by default removes the need for Teen SL and also implies that the main grid would have to be subject to more stringent content rules as it can no longer even remotely be guaranteed that its inhabitants are 18+.

Are we to expect changes in policy and the merger of the teen grid with the main grid? If not, how can this be, when access to the main grid no longer requires any form of age verification what so ever - doesn't that imply that there is no longer an age barrier to entering the main grid?

And please don't suggest that selecting your brithday on the account signup screen will act as age verification, I believe we all know full well that it will not.

The Teen grid was created as a place for teens 13-17 to call their own. That hasn't changed, and we still believe it's important for teens to have their space.

To be honest we're more concerned about adults gaining entry to the teen grid than vice versa. We continue to police both grids however, and to remove teens from the main grid to the teen grid when we find someone has given us false information about their birthdates. Our policy on finding adults on the teen grid, or teens repeatedly entering the main grid, is permanent banning from both grids.
