I was playing with some numbers, and just need to clarify something.
Does the highest tier ($295/mo) allow the holding of any number of regions, or is that the cost for one region. Meaning if somone wants to own two regions, they need to pay $390 USD for tier. I think that's the case, but the FAQ are not clear to me, nor am I willing to experiment to find out.

It is 195US$ per region (sim). As far as I know, there is no discount for multiple sims beyond the first.

When I asked LL about this, they said that once you own a region, after that point you can only tier up in half-region increments. I can't recall the cost, but there's a very small discount (it comes out as maybe US$5 cheaper for your second region?) but that discount never increases, no matter how many regions you own.

Looking at how it is stated on the sl website, one would expect a discount for the "Large Island," but there is none. I find it confusing. "Small islands are priced at US$1,250 for 65,536 square meters (about 16 acres), monthly land fees for maintenance are US$195. Large islands are priced at US$5,000 for 262,144 square meters (about 64 acres), monthly land fees for maintenance are US$780." http://secondlife.com/community/land-islands.php
