After waiting five fucking days for my money from LindeX to show up, I am looking for a different money exchange thing.

I don't want to use IGE, because I have had bad experiences with them in the past, does anyone know of alternatives?

Hmmm, would like to hear more about IGE. I'm interested, because it seems to be so cheap!

IGE is a bit of a mixed bag; when you deal with them, there's a set order to how you do things, any deviation from that, and you can end up paying for it later by having to spend a week sorting it out.

Would the buy and sell Lindens at anshechung.com be the sort of thing you are looking for?

The profit that Anshe takes is unreal... don't even think of selling or buying lindens from there.

Here is an alternative that looks fair:

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Currency

Btw, I have gotten my credits to paypal rather promptly, I'm guessing what you are experiencing is unusual.

Yah, poor Lolo! It took 2 days (and it always did) for my money to show in Paypal...

I'd call both Paypal and LL... Not normal!

Sometimes mine are deposited on the same day the request is made. At other times it can take up to a week. I don't think there's any consistency or set order to how they do it. Then again we have no way of knowing.

If they posted something like:
$200 and under same day
$201 to $400 up to 2 days
$401 to ....

You get the picture. That would be nice. But I wouldn't hold my breath. The only person who knows the order or lack thereof in which the payouts are made and the frequency is the Lindens (particularly the one pressing the enter key).

I suppose we should be happy and thankful that we are able to receive payouts at all. SO I won't complain.
:p

I agree with Keiki, I moved $1000 from PayPal earlier today to SLex and the money was available a few hours later and $100 already spent as I post.

I moved $1100 at the start of the month, and it took over a week.

When I requested a raised Lindex tier to enable me to cash out in less than a month I was referred (by LL FFS!) to:

IGE (appalling exchange rate)

Anshe (trust her through PayPal? LOL!)

SLEX (see Anshe)

And some tiny outfit I never heard of that didn't even have an online interface - expected you to do it all by eMail...

If you want to risk the tiny outfit I'll try and dig the eMail out of deleted and post the url?

SL exchange is very trustworthy, but one particular customer service person there is somewhat rude. The other one is great. I'm not going to name names.

One thing though, don't make two USD deposits there in quick succession or you'll have your money tied up in limbo for at least a full 24 hours.

Just to clarify, I am speaking of waiting 5 days for LindeX to transfer funds to my PayPal account.

And thanks for the responses -- I shall give SLE a shot. Is there a minimum amount of $L you can sell?

The Process Credit page does state that the processing time is 0 to 5 business days. Is the wording not clear enough, or were your expectations for processing time being set differently by wording elsewhere on our website or by other communications with a Linden Lab employee?

I understand that 5 days is the maximum, but generally it hasn't taken that long -- sometimes it even happens that day, three days at the outside.

I don't like waiting that long.

So, while I am happy for the opportunity, and appreciate, greatly, the work that has gone into it, I am looking for a way to get my money in a more speedy fashion.

Why, thank you for that valuable piece of advice.

As a matter of fact, I just got a job. So those little delays won't hurt as much.

Delivery in 4-6 weeks? expect 8
Expecting a letter in 2-5 days? expect a few more
tax return by end of month? _maybe_ next month

Thats business. Thats the world. The fact they actually MAKE their max time means LL is doing a great job. Financial responsibility means you plan based on a worse case scenerio. Be happy that you are EVER capable of pulling money out of a entertainment environment at all. Dont gripe because they actually live up to their standards.

First of all, you don't know me, so you don't know how long or hard I've been trying to make my chaotic financial life better and more stable. Second of all, I'll gripe about what I damn well please. As I stated before, I am happy and grateful that I make money out of here, however much it is, and I am happy that I get to pay various bills with it. What I am criticizing is, essentially, a lack of reliability in the system, meaning -- if it's going to be two days, then say two days. If it's going to be FIVE, then say five. WE JUST DON'T KNOW. And we can't make informed decisions when we don't know. I also don't understand why some orders get processed out of order either.

Life sucks when you're looking for a job and you're not sure when you're going to be paid. End of story.

It _Does_ say 5 days. That means realistically anything up to 8 can be expected. Meaning you should plan on that higher number. Make ALL of your financial decisions with that buffer in mind and you'll be good. Lot less stress.

Hi Lo,

The minimum single order on the SL Exchange currency market is L$100 and the minimum sale amount on the "easy" buy/sell page is L$5000.

It is probably a good idea to understand the currency exchange fees (link - see the section labelled Currency Exchange Trades) before entering any orders. Many potential sellers decide not to use SL Exchange because the sell rates are generally worse. The reason for that is because it is cheaper to sell. The end result for sellers is about the same as LindeX.
