Newbie question: private islands

I notice that private islands come in six shapes, some of which contain 16 acres, some of which contain 64 acres. Do they all cost the same -- $1250 plus $195/month? Or do the 64-acre version cost more? Is a 16-acre island a full sim or 1/4 of one? Likewise, is a 64-acre island a full sim?

I can't believe I'd consider buying such a thing, but the arrival of a crash-inducing club in my current sim has me thinking crazy thoughts.

All sims are 16 acres in size. The 64 acre islands are 4 sims each, and incur the 195/month per sim.

Many thanks. Er, I assume you mean 195/month per sim, right?

Yes, it's still at US$195/mo.

Wait, now the Khamon is confused. Do 64 acre estates cost $195US to maintain or $780US?

I wish they would creat 8 acre islands. I'm tempted to buy an island but the cost is a tad prohibative. I'd even still pay the same server price, but would like a reduced monthly cost ;).

I wish they would create a class of PI like a void sim that we could buy cheaply, terraform and maintain cheaply to insert between our estate islands so as to reduce lag caused by child agents and other information that has to be passed between servers of adjacent fully developed sims.

Hey that's a good idea... maybe over time more of these kinds of sims will fill in the gaps in the map so you can fly from one PI to another, owner willing, of course.

Exactly. PI sims offer much more scope for creative builds, but they have one serious drawback: isolation.

Most PI owners don't want to take a lag hit by joining their island to another fully developed PI. Resident-owned fully-terraformable void sims could serve as low lag buffer zones allowing PI owners to link and end their isolation. Ideally this would encourage residents to cooperate in building a continent of coastal wilderness studded with interesting estates.

Hi Rickey,

Check out the dAlliez sims. We have tried very hard to keep the sims going at a fast clip.

Currently a few islands remain in our new sim Marina dAlliez. If you have any questions IM me
