A Really NEEDED Feature

I suggest that LL should add a new feature in Next Owner's Rights: RESIZE RIGHTS i.e. the next owner can resize the object but cannot otherwise modify or delink.

I often feel need to give the next owner right to resize so they can use the object as seem fit to their needs and property, but can't without giving them full modify rights. This situation eventually makes at least one party to lose what they dont want to. A Right to Resize without modification otherwise solve this problem for everyone's good.

Please Vote on it, and add on any other useful suggestions regarding this, but PLZ stay on point. (Because threads often get lost in unnecessary talk and dont bring desired effect).

love ya all

Zulqadi :)

Specifically, we need seperate checks for copy, mod all, mod colour, mod size, mod text (name & description), mod texture, resell, and transfer. This enhancement has been requested, multiple times, through every input channel available to us, literally, for years, but patently ignored by LL.

I think the permissions system needs a revamp to make it both more effective and easier to use. Not sure yet how it ought to be structured but I do know the current system does not cover enough cases to be a complete solution.

Permissions reform is overdue.

Though implementing treed linking first would help in the transition.

And scripts wth "setuid" (ie, a script in the object can run with greater permissions that the object's owner can use manually)

I think for a lot of scripted items that normally the user would only resize, such as attachments, full modify permission is needed for the scripts in them to run.

we do need a huge permissions overhaul, don't we? so many problems could be solved with some changes here.

* not being able to resize prim clothing to fit if no-mod, but if mod-enable allows others to reverse-engineer
* can't rename no-mod items
* reselling freebie items
* not being able to get refunds on copyable items
* not being able to send a gift if it's copyable
* ...unless it's also transfer, which leaves you open to others reselling your item
