Is GOM Paying anyone that withdrew real money?

Just a check with the community. I submitted a withdraw of what I personally consider to be a substantial amount of real dollars from the GOM a WEEK ago. I have not recieved my montey yet. I did email Zeppi and I did get a response via email that they are swamped and working on things. That I can understand.

I do wonder ... if they have time to send emails, why not just send the money?

Is anyone out there getting paid thier money from the GOM?

Yes. I got my cash out of GOM yesterday. It took about 2-3 business days for them to send the money to my paypal account.

I haven't gotten mine yet, from 9/28 :(
I'm hoping it's just because they are behind with the closing and all.

Got a withdrawl of cash the other day. But the next batch is being slow. I think Jamie said they were behind and having to manually do about 1900 traders wanting to withdraw since they shut up shop.

I can quickly log on and check email/forums from work. I'm certain my employer would frown upon my spending all day sending PayPal payouts. :(

Y'know what I think I'm going to do.... I'll start a thread in the GOM forums with an update of where we are in the withdrawal queue right now and update it periodically. i.e., "we've just finished processing deposits requested up to 2am on Sep 29th". That should give people an idea of where they are relative to where *we* are.

Again, I'm really sorry about the delay. I honestly wasn't expecting this level of rush all at once.

Thanks Rickey, some type of feedback in that area would be great. Maybe you could link to it here. If you guys ever re-open I would use GOM ... I'm sure many others would as well. Think about it.

Ok. Even better. I've added in a quick little counter on the account page that will give the position of each withdrawal in the payment queue. This will tell you exactly how many payments are ahead of yours. For example, "67/708" means there are 708 payments waiting, and yours comes after 66 of them.

I wish to call attention to how upfront Ricky has been in ensuring that people get their funds and even though it may be slower than they might like, it is happening. As others have noted, GOM could have simply walked off with all the depositors funds and some people said things to the effect of "I'll believe it when I see the payment".

Hats off (well I don't have a hat, not even a toque) to Jamie for acting honorably when he could have done otherwise.

Part of the reason I'm mentioning this is because it pleases me to see all of the speculation about what dishonor Ricky/GOM might do be shown to be wrong. The other thing that threw this into sharp contrast was having to click through the new Linden Lab Terms of Service today which added a new section 6.4 which reads:
6.4 Second Life Currency. You acknowledge that the Second Life service presently includes a component of in-world fictional currency ("Currency" or "Linden Dollars" or "L$";). You agree that Linden has the absolute right to manage, regulate, control, modify and/or eliminate such Currency as it sees fit in its sole discretion, and that Linden will have no liability to you based on its exercise of such right.
which when stripped of the legalese says "Linden Lab can throw away your L$ for no reason at all and there's nothing you can do about it". What makes this even more fun is that in Section 6.4.2(c) "you promise not to deny or decline any such charge [for L$ purchased through LL]". So, if they chose to "for any reason or no reason" Linden Lab *could* sell you L$ through the exchange, remove them from you (or fail to deliver them) and you've agreed that you still owe them real money for them. This doesn't mean that they necessarily will, just that they can.

And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

I suspect everyone would have done chargebacks against GOM if that happened.

Good luck ever getting another paypal account.

That's cool. I'm 582 of 693 lol, no hurry though. I'm not sure what the point is of having a cancel button there though.

I get the impression that this was an attempt to communicate a concept, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what concept is hiding behind all of those pronouns with no referents.

What's a referent?

But, you're right. I could be a little less contextual.

All that damn perl programming screwing with my brain, no doubt.

I personally have never doubted for a second I will get my money. I think anyone that has dealt with GOM for a while will agree.

Two honorable gentlemen running an honest business.
