Selling Linden land?

Has anyone heard of an individual selling Linden-owned land like roadways, protected areas, et?

I own 16m2 in the southbound lane of a Linden road in Hachiman.

Interesting, Kim. Did you buy it from someone or did the Lindens put a road over your land?

I bought it from someone. The ad in Find said it was a rare opportunity to put roadkill in the Linden road, and it made me laugh. The land didn't cost much and I got my value out of it by teleporting friends out to view it and giggling when they said, "That's it? 16 m2 in the road?!" I had a teensy snow build there -- snow-textured prim for the ground, which generated snow particles that fell from a particle cloud, and a snowy tree. If you clicked the build, it'd welcome you to the "vast tundra", tell you to dress warmly, and give you a mug of hot cocoa. One day Jill Linden returned the build . . . I think she was doing road cleanup and didn't realize who owned the parcel. I have a little protest marker about that there now, although one of the neighbors has asked me to put the snow build back.

I don't have any to sell.. I just heard that someone had (at some point) sold Linden-owned land and wasn't sure if it was true.

In fact, a funny thing happened in Arcata. I sold some land to someone. We fooled around trying to have the terraforming work. She bought it. And then we both saw there was something really hilarious going on. It is just the way the terraforming worked, to bulge up over the Linden road. It looks like I bought a piece of Linden road, then she bought a piece of it, as part of a larger parcel.

It's just a piece, and it wasn't sold for any fantastic sum or anything it was just a little over $4 in PG, which is normal, and it was just an accident. I heard of one other player who bought like 16 or 32 m of Linden road like that, and it seems this parcel had that too.

So what? It's some kinda parceling glitch. So? Trust me. Nobody got rich off this, and we aren't charging tourists to come look at it.

What *is* your point? If you have any more accusations that I commit "evil" in this game, could you do what Jeska often says to do, and continue the conversation with me in-game, as you did the other night for two hours haranguing me and two newbie guests I was helping.

I already sold it, heedless of the potential of taking tolls, Schwan. Would that be allowed on Linden land anyway, even purloined Linden land?

No, it's sold to someone who I'm fairly confident won't be in the toll or troll business either, so leave it alone for now.

Nope - no accusations, no names, nothing except a simple question. Unlike your grandiose vision of me, I simply don't know everything about SL. I'm sorry to shatter your hard worked FIC vision, but I mostly stick to building and really don't know much about selling land. Because I don't know everything, I wasn't sure if this was possible.

Prokofy, there was no accusation, just a question about noone in particular. The point was: to find out if it is possible to sell Linden land. See? No malice, no hatred, just an inquisitive mind seeking an answer.

I did hang out with you the other night and, oddly, I enjoyed it. Your personality is quite accomodating inworld and from what I saw of your dealings with your customers, I would have to give you 5-stars.

If you recall, I didn't say much, but did make fast friends with your customer. I didn't sell him on anything and I certainly wasn't haranguing you.

Every once in a while I see a plot of land that should be Linden Land owned by a person that is not a Linden. Some of these plots are just little 16sqm plots, but others are much bigger. I am not sure what it means, if anything at all, but it does seem like every so often there are plots of Linden Land that go on the public market. Glitch or not, I do not know.

I decided to make one especially for you!

So, in theory, I could buy the telehub at the Ahern welcome center and install those aggressive property defense turrets to blast anyone coming with 500 meters of right back into relog land.....
