Non playing multi-currency trader ?

I just checked the profile of the owner of a black patterned obelisk which has appeared as my neighbour, concerned that it came close to some definitions of "griefing".

The profile displays just the following single sentence "about" the owner :

"Why do u care i only use this game so i can transfer its L$ to my other MMORPGS."

I see no object or scripted server on the plot.

Does this make sense to anyone?
Is someone trying to make money by working the marginal disparities between exchange rates of all the different currencies ? Moving cash around and making profit from that alone?

Doesn't seem likely does it. Is it bragging nonsense ?

A lot of people have nonsense in their profiles.

Griefers enjoy bothering people. So if you are bothered, then you're fun. Don't be fun.

People have done it before. In my opinion the effort necessary for it completely overtakes any potential gain it might give.

That sounds a little odd. But it's kind of like you don't know how to react to such a person, apart from: if you're concerned, I recommend filing an Abuse Report... Lindens have sorted out this kind of thing in the past, and they'll look at it again and continue to do so.

I'd also be curious to see if you can communicate your neighbor and ask him, in HIS words, how exactly he goes about doing this. After all, if he sounds like the bragging type, maybe he'll be happy to share!

Lots of people do this. It's called "buy low and sell high." It's much like trading stocks, but not something I would personally participate in.

That said, it sounds to me like you're dealing with a standard griefer whose profile is meant only to upset. If you've not "heard" of the person before (typically as a big currency seller in SL), then chances are (s)he isn't.

Also he's done nothing to report as abuse. Worse griefers abound, as is their right.

I was just sharing something I found which I thought interesting, and wondering if anyone could shed light on the reality (and even the viability) of what the guy claims.

Surely its interesting to wonder if this is possible, and if anyone is actually doing it ?

Oh, I get it -- you meant the obelisk came close to griefing, and the profile merely made you curious. I misunderstood, I thought you were saying that the description in the profile came close to griefing. (sorry)

By my calcs the stipend doesn't quite cover the subscription at current rates, though if you take the free land allocation into account it comes pretty close.

1000 accounts would get me 26 million lindens sold at $4 per 1000 would be $104000

$104000-$72000=$32000

Anyone got 72k to lend me for a year?

1000 would be 26000L$ a year at $4 per 1k is $10400 a year.

10400-9950=450 profit 1st year followed by $10400 each year SL is alive and Lindens can be sold for $4 a block
