There is a new intermittent bug, but it's not one they're trying to use to scam you. I've used this method myself to free up a bug (reported) with Lindex payments whereby the purchased L$ only hit your account once you log off/on or if someone or something pays you some money. By 'bouncing' a few L$ from a vendor in the manner you describe you're able to make the payment appear. Not that sinister after all

I doubt it's anything more than people (noobs) making mistakes. Even if they were trying it on, if the vendor works properly it won't do them any good ( as you said yourself ). I see the same thing quite often in my stores. Take a look to see if it's the same person or persons repeat offending, if not, don't worry about it. As long as your vendor pays back the incorrect payment there's no harm done even if someone is chancing it. I sometimes IM people who pay small amounts more than once to ask if they're ok, some of the excuses are quite amusing

Certain vendors don't make it terribly obvious, especially to new user unfamiliar with the various types of vendor in use in SL, how much an item is. I remember being rather confused by some and engaging in a sort of 'guess the price' game with the vendor when I was a noob

All very well for people to have a sig that exhorts you to 'be the change' - I wonder if it's ever occurred to them that they might be something that needs changing...?

LSL has been updated to allow objects to set the price that appears in the pay dialog box.
Vendors can now remove the edit box, and provide the buyer with just on button with the correct amount on it. Contact the developer of your vendors to see if they have an update available. |

Yes...all the vendors I sell are "price restricted" to allow payment of only the appropriate amount to buy the item in question. It's a very easy, wonderful tool for both buyers (who never over/under pay and can just touch a pay button) and sellers (who never have to worry about buyers over/under paying).
