are you looking to rent or own? I suggest doing the math and checking the options as sometimes renting can be much cheaper than owning, however you won't have as much control over the land if you rent a mainland plot. (But with the right landlord this might not be an issue)

if you are a premium, get your 512m2 first land..

it costs 512 lindens and unless you get more land, is included in your premium account

alot cheaper than rent

searching classifieds for "for rent" in world are a great place to look, so is searching for "for rent" in search places

talk with a few landlords about your plans and ask if the housing could be replaced with your own

if you want to know a good landlord who's willing to work with you as far as building types and options of the land contact me in world and I'll give you her name :)

Some things to think about is how much space you need and more importantly how many prims you need. Also will you want your land searchable and details like that are good to sort out now so you can communicate your needs effectively to your potential landlords
