Jeska Linden posted: How LL Determines High Score and Weekly Stipends
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
High Scores Formula:
The score is determined by taking:
(behavior rating) x 466 + (appearance rating) x 401 + (building rating) x 401 + (referrals) x 5000
(Remember this was done to make the number deliberately obtuse.)
Weekly Stipends For weekly stipends, the bonus is based on the percentile of the person's score. Here's the breakdown by top percentage:
375: 2.5% 188: 5% 100: 10% 38: 25% 20: 50%
Now that honest ratings are nigh on impossible to get, and old ratings are decaying, it seems that the only thing that counts is referring people to Second Life.
Now I never had any ambition of getting in the top ten high score list or anything like that, so it does not matter to me personally, but it seems to me that this really does not reflect top-notch in game performance, or whatever you want to call it.
There ought to be a better way.

Before at $1/rate, they were cheap throw away nothings. Now at $25/rate they count for more and are less likely to be random rate-everyone-you-meet ratings. IMO anyway. -Ghoti

I would also like to point out that I'm not in the 10% bracket (I'm ranked around 15000) and I get the 100 per week bonus. The formula for calculating score gives me the correct score, just the percentile used is not accurate or there are way more accounts than I think there are.

But I wonder whether the cost of rating is high enough to make rating parties, or alts rating alts, "profitable". I think it is, but I can't help wondering. I hate it when people game the rules.

I wonder, for example, when the leader list delta shows such a high number of new rates for some people. Since there are no more than 40 people at any given event, how does someone get several hundred ratings in a week, given that very few people are bowled over enough to fork over $L25?
Maybe it's their cologne or something.

Maybe it's their cologne or something. Good question. Some deltas are from account adjustments but not all.

Since the old ratings are decaying my last few scores (weekly changes) have been negative. On everything. Rate, high score and some weeks even my money
