Hi, I have never bought land at auction before. I assume I can buy it for group, is that correct?

Yes. If you win the auction, you pay directly, then the land gets set for sale only to you, for $0. However you can still 'buy for group', but of course you are the only group member who can do this.

So is tier calculated when youn 'buy' in world? Or does LL whack on a the extra tier onto the successful bidder upon completion of auction? |

What I meant was, at what point is tier forced upon you to cover a parcel won at auction? If you win an auction, is your tier automatically updated, or does that happen when you take possession of the land in-world? The reason I ask, is of course it has consequences for anyone bidding on land that is destined for group ownership.

I thought that changed in the last couple months so you just take posession immediately now. No more buy for 0 stuff. That was my impression, I haven't bought since they announced the change. _____________________

LL made a big announcement about how it was going to change. A few people--but not many--made some vocal objections, myself included. My 2nd Post to Second Life Answers was never answered, but within a short time I noticed that they had changed back some of the wording on the auction website. I've made several auction purchases since then and can say for sure that the current policy is that if you pay for it immediately, you have one week to claim it. And you can choose how you want to buy it (Buy or Buy for Group). I don't know for sure what happens if you don't pay for it immediately. I guess it gets billed and transferred automatically in 24 hours if you don't manually pay for it. So, if you want to control the process, pay immediately after you win the auction. EDIT: BTW, Thanks LL for Listening! ![]() _____________________

If you win an auction, is your tier automatically updated, or does that happen when you take possession of the land in-world? The reason I ask, is of course it has consequences for anyone bidding on land that is destined for group ownership. if you pay immediately after you win (using the Pay Now button) then you have 1 week to claim it. It is set to sell to you for $0. So, you control when and how it affects your tier. You can buy it for yourself and have it count against your tier or you can Buy for Group and have it count against the group's tier. If you don't pay immediately, then it probably gets billed and transferred automatically in 24 hours. So, it would increase your individual tier automatically. To avoid this, pay immediately after you win. _____________________

They could have announced the other change too, but at least they did it, that's most important. Too bad they didn't listen to people about the silly "map reservation" scheme. Maybe you know this, how did it ever turn out about people reserving two spots diagonal that would give them conflicting rights? _____________________
