There has been very rough debate between two sides, the one in favor of cut , and the other gainst it. So here is a solution to end debate, and see who is "actually" fair and honest in what they are saying. Put your money where your mouth is guys. SOLUTION: Let those who advocate the Stipend Cut, get their stipends be cut voluntarily...rofl. Lets see how committed and principled they are in what theyt are saying. LL should introduce a Voluntary Stipend Cut Scheme, so people could opt for it if they so strongly believe in it. However, those who want to keep it may keep it as it d be voluntary. LL should post the statistics to show how many have opted for it. This would be kind of "committed voting" that a person who strongly believes in cut, should prove his point by actually voting for it by getting cut. If there are enough numbers, it would quickly bring some effect in LindeX as the money supply would be reduced without offending those who want to keep it. So put your money where your mouth is guys. I doubt there d be many to actually stand for what they are preaching, because all they have in mind is "take take take"... "giving" part may not make sense to them.

And yes off course, if their number exceeds the 50% and holds majority, then LL can go ahead and cut all stipends. I guess the other side shouldnt mind it then. But initially, those who want it must prove their point by paying for it.

What an excellent idea - those who strongly believe what they say against stipends can put their money where their mouth is and prove it.
Volunteers shout now.

Are you an alt? I jusk ask, cos if not, how does someone who's just joined get such a strong opinion about 'land barons' and stuff already? Just curious. Anyway, voted for end the stipends, not cos I believe it, but to be contrary.

Thanks for personal attacks and insulting remarks. That does tell the difference which is called "education". You exhibited it very well. I have no interest to converse with you guys any more.

I have no interest to converse with you guys any more. It's commonly accepted in the real world that qualifications are worthless compared to actual real experience. It's a pity really that you are choosing to go home and take your ball with you, you could learn so much here from people who are actually living with, and suffering the consequences of, decisions made by people who feel that they have some kind of god-given right to control things merely by having spent a few years at college instead of working for a living. Given a choice between a graduate with no experience, and a regular guy with 5 years on-the-job experience, I know which I'd give more value to. Besides, qualifications can be bought easily enough. I'm tempted to become a fully ordained Minister, it's only $20 and I'm legal. Lewis

The regular guy with 5yrs of OJT (On the Job Training) beats a College twit any day. Bill Gates (Microsoft) dropped out of Harvard, 1976 Steve Jobs (Apple, NeXT, Pixar) left Reed College in Portland, Oregon, after 1 semester Steve Wozniak (with Jobs, founded Apple Computer) Lawrence Ellison (Oracle Computer) Michael Dell (Dell Computer) dropped out of the University of Texas

I would take a doubling of my basic land grant from 512 to 1024. It cost $8 in tier a month and the rest could be called a fee to own land. Dont thing I will buy much content after losing my stipend will not spend $ for L$ but................

They rather just keep printing linden dollars which is free to them and inflationary to us..

Who runs your country, your economy...the wole world. Who makes policies that affect nations. Who makes the analysis which is worthwhile. Show me one uneducated person , and i d accept your premise.
Experience is off course valueable. But experience gained from the point where a mind is totally blank, and from a point where a mind has been trained to think and analyse can't be matched.
Education is nothing else but the accumulated human experience over centuries. One with it is instantly step ahead of those who dont have that. a mechanic who learnt by trial and error maybe very good in fixing tires, but he can't make jet engines. He will have to go through education if he wants to.
I m wasting my time proving something which is all evident.
Ok, bye. i m gonna go play SL now.

My first question to you was actually out of personal interest, I just wonder how these opinions on land barons spread so quickly to new residents. I was only teasing you about your poll You are going to encounter strong debate on the forums, however. If I was puzzled when you revealed your background, it's because simply because my education was in accounting and economics ( a long time ago), and I can see how barons could be beneficial to LL, that's all. If I offended you then I apologise.

Show me one uneducated person , and i d accept your premise. That's an easy one. The people running the country have, 99.9% of the time, only their own interests and profit opportunity driving everything they do. Just look at the mess they're making. You've answered your own question. Enjoy playing SL. If more people treated it as a game and played it for fun, we wouldn't be wasting time debating such stupid issues which don't belong here. Lewis

They rather just keep printing linden dollars which is free to them and inflationary to us.. Well I am not willing to lose $82.53 a year to make you more money. That is the stipend divided by 315. Guess I am like everone else in Second Life by placing myself first over all others! I say let them print Lindens! I pointed out in another thread the destructive deflation that would occur after the removal of the stipend and dwell. What would the content providers do when the supply of Lindens starts to decrease? You cant have it both ways and I am so so happy you dont control the money supply!

Pay your fair share!
05-24-2006 09:09
Linden Labs needs to make the sinks equal to the excess Linden production. I like the ideal of a income tax. I think a 10 percent tax will be enough to equalize the shortfall. To be fair Stipends would be subject to the tax. However dollar transactions are of course excempt from this tax. This tax can be adjusted as required to ensure that the amount of Lindens is neither increased or decreased. It is time to make residents pay their fair share!!
