Could someone pretend I am a four year old and explain what the deal is with the latest announcement? Has LL opened new land? Are they going to?

they haven't as of last night but it sounds like there's going to be some significant new land in the north. the whole fictional story thing really threw me too but those are the only facts i could dig out of it.

I have no clue what's going on, but it sounds like something new and wonderful is just around the corner (above and beyond just adding new land). I'm looking forward to finding out what it is.

Meh. It's just somewhere else for some 'service provider' to 'add to the value of the land' by outbidding everyone else, carving it up, marking it up for profit and dumping for sale signs over it. What else were you expecting?

On the bright side, I bet we'll get to relive the Roller Coaster of Speculatory Idiocy with this new land. Remember what happened with snow land? There was this gargantuan demand initially, and the land sold for a price considerably higher than the normal average. Then, the interest waned and the floodgates opened, and snow land became even more devalued than regular land.

Maybe my wish will be fulfilled and it'll be desert. That would be wonderful. Why, I'd probably pay upwards of TWICE what I would pay for any other land.

that would be cool if it was desert and it would prove we're in the southern hemisphere of the sl planet. snow in the south and desert in the north. unless the map is upside down. i guess we don't really have a compass.

LL employees are really into SL as well. and when they are about to release a new region they immerse themselves into the whole roleplaying shtick. it's all good fun - the avatar sacrifice to appease the volcano god and the puzzle pieces for the polyneasian archipelago region.

i'm hoping for outer space sims like martian or moon regions.

I think this is the latest sponsored project. Like Neverland, there is a new landmass with some new sims, and it's set up to be a new continent to explore.
