First of all this is not meant to start up another long discussion thread about whether this is right or wrong...it's coming and what can we do. This is what was posted... From: someone + Within two weeks, a 50% reduction in the bonus amounts paid out as weekly 'Stipend Ratings'. This is the incentive amounts paid to users who have received a realtively large number of positive ratings.
+ Within 6 weeks, removing completely the remaining incentive amounts paid out in these 'Stipend Ratings'. This means that ratings will no longer have any effect on L$ paid to residents.
What bonus are they talking about. Last week I had a "total rating bonus" of $100L and a"weekly rating bonus" of $38L This week I only got the Weekly bonus of $38L....what happened to the total bonus and how does that construe a 50% reduction? Did I miss a thread where they said the total rating bonus was going completely bye bye?

premium members get L$500 a week and I believe active Basics get L$50.
As you know, LL was paying out bonuses for those with positive ratings. They are now phasing that out -- first cutting it by 50% then removing it altogether.

That's an affirmative. It's simple. Within six weeks of their announcement, no basic member will get any more than L$50 per week, no premium will receive more than L$500.

It means that other people gained more rates than you overall during last week, pushing you down the overall leaderboard (all three rates combined) into the lower 50%, so no bonus. ----- Edit: misread year... ----- ---- further edit for stupidity... I really should wake up before I start posting... ---- What I intended to say in the above edited out parts was... With rates decaying after 6 months you can easily drop down the leaderboard quite fast if you gained a lot of rates 6 months ago and now they're being culled.. The L$38 weekly bonus means you gained more rates in one catagory (during the last week) than 50% of the entire population. In my experience, with 40,000+ accounts and guessing at 10,000 being active, you only need 1 rate to get that...

Ok...let me try again.
I've gotten the same "bonus's" for several months now, pretty much since the decay.
Last week I had two separate rating bonus categories in my history.
a Total rating = $100L and a weekly rating = $38L which makes my total bonus come to $138L
This week I only got the weekly rating = $38L What happened to the total rating?
Now #1 that is not a 50% cut of the total that's way more than a 50% cut. The rating decay hasn't taken any of my ratings away in a very long time so my number of ratings hasn't changed...I also did not receive any new ratings that I am aware of except for 1.
#2 why would one of the rating bonus categories just up and disappear? I've had the two categories as far back as I can look and they were the same ammount as listed above.
Did I miss a post where they were taking away the total rating bonus all together? If it's supposed to be a 50% reduction then my rating bonus should have been $69L
Not a mathematician here so make it simple please. I got one rating this week which is why I got a bonus at all?? Otherwise I wouldn't have had one...again I ask how is that a 50% reduction? I had no idea that rating bonuses were based on the position on the leaderboard.....Hopefully a Linden can help me make sense of this. I thought my bonus was based on a flat rate per rating. Obviously it's just a drop in the bucket, but I'm trying to save as much $L as I can now just in case they decide to do something to my stipend as well.

Eventually they will both be removed but my understanding was that I should only loose 50% of my $138/week for the first 6 weeks then it's gone...well that's certainly more than a 50% cut.

The 50% cut is due to start "within 2 weeks" of the announcement, with a total removal "within 6 weeks".
It simply means that the minimum bonus of L$38 (which you got this week), will only be L$19 next week...
The loss of your L$100 Total rate bonus can only be due to your dropping down the leaderboards. Assuming you regained your previous possition by next week that would be worth L$50.

The ratings pool has always been variable and undisclosed; I think the intent was to vary it to control the money supply. It was also tiered where if you were in the top 5% you got some fixed fraction of the weekly pool, top 25% some smaller fraction, etc. I forget where this was enumerated and am too lazy to hunt for it.
As has been noted elsewhere and by Surina above, the ratings decay (ratings older than six months vanish) has been broken since after it had been introduced and what with the upcoming phase-out of the rating bonuses altogether. You should probably just count on stipend and consider any rating bonus as a happy - if small - accident.

What about refferal stipend bonus? I'm not sure, I don't even know if I've reffered anyone successfully.. But were refferal stipend bonus' scrapped a while back or will they be or what? I haven't heard anything about them..

From: Introvert Petunia the ratings decay (ratings older than six months vanish) has been broken since after it had been introduced It's hard to be sure, but the evidence is stacking up that the decay which was promised to remove the totally unfair legacy of the past simply hasn't happened, or at least not correctly. If this is the case, large numbers of people have likely been receiving funds they were never intended to receive. Because of this faulty implementation, I suggest that detailed analysis of changes in what you have received may be useless. I further suggest that since the errors have almost certainly been over-, rather than under-payment, complaints may be contraindicated. Anyway, this system is finally being scrapped, so it will all be immaterial shortly.

Thanks for that. This is the first time I have heard the coming changes expressed clearly. Why don't the Lindens speak as plainly?

From: Dianne Mechanique Thanks for that. This is the first time I have heard the coming changes expressed clearly. Why don't the Lindens speak as plainly? Beuce they have not said that yet. And Linden activity on the Hotline has been Next to nill for the past day and a half (1 reply in the past 36hr) That would answer some of the questions like. Is it just the Overall rateings rank money that is getting cut (for most people that can use the money that is only like 38 a week) Or is Rateings Delta (A better Method of telling how active someone is) going as well I have earned between 10 (an inactive week) and 400 on the delta of my account. I am not shure that it is all about in game money issues, It looks likey they are trying to incease the number of users but are not chareing anything for them to join. so may be trying to convince us that being a monthly paid member is the way to go. It is realy hard to say right now everything that is going on. Expect the posiblity that they are messing a but much with the economy. Sence they droped event suport I watched a friend of mine lose 5 hosting jobs in quick sucession as the various clubs needed to cut back or retooled. An other problem is that not everyone understand how economics work and will go around re pricesing there Items, and then when someone comes up with a simular Item they go and look at the prices that are unchanged and go Wow I can get 500 for makeing this I guess I will charge that. And there is nothing realy forceing anything to change sence there is the curancey exanges where people can go and buy more linden from the makes of expencive items to be able to aford the expencive Items from other pepole that are selling linden. It is more of the rich stay rish and the poor stay poor.
