This thread is for those who've bought a sim or sims and been dissatisfied to tell us their tale(s) of woe.

You mean to tell me no one who has bought a sim has ever been dissatisfied with it?

I sold my sim after owning it for 12 hours! RL circumstances had changed in the two weeks since it was ordered, and it was decided that it was best to transfer the ownership to one of the other partners despite the $100 fee. And we're happy with ownership still, so... no unhappy sim ownership story here.

i have lots of stories I could tell you about how shit it was owning a sim and how little LL gave a fuck about my problems, but I won't bore you with the details because I can't be bothered to recount them.

Summary: islands suck. LL suck. teh end.

I had a happy little sim and then one day SueC came to visit and everything turned gray and no texture would ever load again ... so I had to sell it :p

I wish that didn't sound plausible.

Is there truth in the following: If you get a sim, and do what is needed to get people to pay the tier, you end up doing work and not having land to control for your own purposes because you have to control it to suit the people paying for it.

If you're renting to others, I'd say that's probably the case. But there seems to be others who don't rent at all, pay the tier and keep it private to themselves - having their shops on it, plus private areas for themselves on it, etc.

Not for me.

I have 100% control over a sim that pays for itself.

Surely that's the definition of being a landlord ?

Come visit Daytona, we have a nice rental sim. I do not like having to ask people to pay rent on time. Most of my renters pay paypal and no problems. One likes to pay in lindens and is always late a day after the rental box expires, one day I'm gonna quit being nice and return that renters items lol. I tend to run my sim almost as a democracy try to get all residents to agree if any changes are made and resolve any bickering before it becomes a problem. I have my corner and do with it what I like errr what my g/f likes. *ducks waitng for a slap from her when she reads this*

How much work does it take?

Is the work yuchy work or work that you enjoy like building and scripting?

You're a clever girl - I'm sure you can do the math.

195 bucks a month / average days in the month - converted to the current average on the lindex.

Is it much work? well - I haven't really logged on for more than 3 minutes at a space in the past 2 weeks. So I wouldn't call it work at all.

Is the work yuchy?

Lets see.... on one hand we have dealing with tennants and all kinds of people.
On the other hand we have playing around messing with things that interests you.

Ive owned a sim for about 6 months and had few problems and the few I have had were solved quickly by Lindens/Live Help. I have had an overall good experience.
