Likewith my road thread, I'm just hoping I'm posting in the right place to get some Linden attention. I read some posts and vote proposals about people want to use boats and I'm in a position now to try and offer that, even linked with roads and a senic camping spot!
My primary parcel, which I'm using as a "camp for L$ while building sandbox" currently

is going to be made into a welcome/information center. It's nearly a half-sim on the water. The land I bought on the roadway and talked about in my other thread
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Suisun/210/70/56
is going to be a park with a swimable lake and a road system to the coastal merchants. I decided to snap up some mountainside figuring I could get my landscape architect to do her magic with the waterfalls again and use the rest of the prims on the roadside area. While flying off the coast checking "About Land" I got turned around and flew to the next land mass which was, surprise, surprise, my other property! Yes, two properties separated by an all-water protected sim. So I got to thinking (yes, always a dangerous proposition with me)...
Let's take roads, driving, boating and throw it all into the mix for a cool sim setup. If the Lindens planned to keep the waterway protected on these two sims:

How about ltting me build a shipping yard on the coast of Suisun and you guys build a raised bridge connecting Suisun with Jizo. You can connect the road I've built on the Suisun property (which runs from the protected road to the top of the mountain) to the bridge and run it across the two sims to Jizo. Keep the bridge raised high enough and that will be two sims of open waterways for boaters and the shipyard could have a yacht club, even a boardwalk. I'll use some of my land at the top as a parking lot and a helipad so anyone could fly in, see the park, go boating, drive their car across the bridge... I don't know. A ferry? An aircraft carrier? Thre are four square water sims right there.
For anyone else reading, if I don't get any response from Team Linden, how do prim roots work in trying to build something like a dock that starts on my land and extends to the water since there are a few meters of protected land between me and the water. If you have a linked object does its SW position determine whether its pieces get returned or are they safe because the root is on my property?
I'd like to take my boats out for a spin beyond circling the H&K Designs island next to me at Jizo!
