Anyone notice (or tried)...

I sold a hell of a lot of L$ at the begining of Lindex (ok ok, not my brightest hour, was waiting for market to crash)!

Now I want to buy more L$, I have like 500us$ in my account, so I assumed when I bought 100us$ worth of L$ it would be taken from my 500us$ in my account....

NOPE Wrong, it came from my credit card.... Is there a way to get L$ for my account us$ or do I have to cash out my us$ into my credit card account (don't have paypal and don't live in the US)

So Linden are charging me for three times over...? Sell, Transfer and then buy?

please someone tell me I'm being silly?

THANKS

I haven't used it.. So don't take my word for it, but I think you'd have to cash out.. I think they're planning to add A LOT more features soon, making things easier, but its in Beta atm...

But wait for someone else to post before taking my word for it ;)

Last update was that yes -- even if you have US$ in your LindeX account -- if you buy L$, it goes to your credit card.

Well that's just plain silly. If you have a USD balance on account, Lindex should just draw from that balance when making a currency purchase.

What.....you were expecting a quality of service equivalent to GOM?

Silly users, we're in the age of Microsoft now, it's not about quality, it's about volume!

Volume? Philips entire argument for creating LindeX (and killing off GOM) was that it would make it easier for noobs and increase trade volume. A month down the line and daily trade volume is the same, or maybe slightly less, than GOM had. Around L$2 million per day...

On the other hand, who is trading is as important as gross amount; a portion of GOM traffic was "day traders", it seemed to me, whereas all of the LindeX traffic seems to be fairly straightforward - which is one reason the value shot back up, I suspect.

For the sake of fairness...

1. LindeX is relatively new. What was GOM's volume after one month in service? A more accurate comparison can be made once LindeX has had some time in operation.

2. LindeX volume was steadily increasing and approaching L$3 million per day prior to the update.

3. There is a distinct difference between a daily trade volume of L$2 million driven by day traders and a daily trade volume of L$2 million driven one-time buyers and sellers.

This is in the works. QA should be completing testing of this functionality today. If it passes QA today then it should launch early next week, perhaps as early as Monday. Once it has been deployed we'll be updating the LindeX information pages to indicate how this works.

Also, automated PayPal payouts should be going to QA today, and if it passes QA within a day or two then it should be deployed next week. Once automated PayPal payouts are ready we'll be adjusting the PayPal cashout fee.

I've spent some time this week drafting reworked US$ limits and hope to update the limits today once I've collected and encorporated feedback from the major stakeholders.

Cheers,
Lawrence

How much of that volume was 1cent tier traders trading with 1cent tier traders.

Are you going to continue with limits on people buying with their USD?

There is no chargeback risk on those transactions, however removing those limits could cause day trading related issues..

I actually sold off some L$ to try this out, and sent the proper e-mail to have them send me a physical check. When I check my account, it still shows the USD amount of what I sold off, but have not even received an e-mail stating that my request for a physical check has been processed and/or sent.

The site says two business days, but it has been a business week since I sent the check request e-mail to the proper address with all of the proper information. The reason that I decided to try out LindeX was because I was always leary of going through services like GOM.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Bye bye for now,
Alexis

Yes. If it becomes a problem we may reevaluate this in the future.

The US$ volume is likely what matters most to content creators...

I see your check request in the queue. I'm going to go find out why it hasn't been processed yet.

Well, the US$ volume coming into the system is what mattered most. Which, once you make your change, we'll get a more accurate idea of. Though, I suspect it won't be a huge difference.

Well, make that you'll get a more accurate idea of. How about all that data sharing? :)

Regardless, nicely done..

Thank you... I was wondering what the situation was. It just surprised me that I didn't even receive an e-mail saying that it was being processed so long after the initial request.

We got a bit behind in processing check requests, our finance folks say that they'll get caught up with the check requests this afternoon. Thank you for your patience.

That is not fair on GOM's part to compare it after 1 month. You need to understand that GOM was the first of these types of services. No one really bought and sold L$ before GOM. Also, look at the population of SL now compared to the population of SL then. Forget the fact that GOM had been growing also before it shut down.

That's the key for me.

Back in the GOM days, I peridiodically moved money out of SL, but never more than USD $60-$80 in a single month. It was always done with small, incremental withdrawals.

The $5 cashout fee and the lengthy processing time stopped me. With those two hurdles lowered, I imagine a number of smaller-time players such as myself will become active again.
