Created new Proposal 877 : From: someone The land sale feature is prone to severe abuse, ranging from extortion to subtle advertising on the sales map. This also causes extreme clutter and difficulty for the community in using the land sales search features. For example, a 32m plot on sale for $20,000L is clearly not a serious sales offer.
Build into the land management system controls that prevent the per-meter sales price from exceeding a reasonable window, based on local and sim-wide prices. For example, below is one suggested calculation:
Example: Land-per-meter price must not exceed the greater of: 300% the average price of the nearest ten other land sales; or 500% the average price of all land sales grid-wide. Please consider and discuss! - Thanks, Newfie

I think it's problematic. There are going to be occasions on certain sims for legitimate reasons when the price for a small plot is going to get really high. Sure the give rate for land is 4-7 L per meter, but there are plots out there priced much, much higher than that which will sell.

What you see as abuse, I see as nuisance (and I do use the land sale feature often).

Why privilege high prices?
I find it very annoying to discover that somebody offered to sell land way below a reasonable market price, only to have somebody smarter or faster than me go and buy it before I had a chance! So if we're going to constrain unreasonable high prices, we should also constrain unreasonable low ones. [Note to the humor impaired: this is satire. I think proposal 877 is a bad idea.]
