Hi everyone, does anyone know where to get the white fine sand/beach grain texture that is on some of the new islands? It isnt a Linden texture or the ones found in the library. Thank you :)

Ask one of the island owners for a copy.

I think I am right in saying you cannot texture land unless you own a private Island or contract for an entire sim and terra-form it before it is baked.

You can acheive a type of texture effect but you have to use your own prims

I would like to get some of the private island textures myself. Not for texturing an island, but to make prim objects like pathway verges that are thematically part of the ground to match.

Applying matching ground texture to prims sitting on the ground slams frame rate into the wall. I've no idea why; but it does.

yay! i thought i was crazy! I've noticed this too. It isn't the texture size that i can tell. Just creepy I tell you! I had a nice forest in the works, no scripts yet, no particles, just using some of the crazier land textures in the library and a few hundered prims later we had a framerate drop to around 10.

???

Huh? I've done that extensively on Isle RFyre when sculpting a large rock outcrop blended into the terrain mesh to make a natural path. The image here shows rock prims with different tints (to highlight an ancient glyph that my client wants the visitor to click).

I created the terrain textures to look like dark bronze rock with moss, then used that on a LOT of prims too. No lag hit.

I shall observe this phenomenon. So let it be written. So let it be done.
