I was bored earlier so I decided to do some math for my new business in which I'll be renting land.

Basically, I found a unique pattern in tiers that if you don't include your monthly premium ($9.95/month, $25/quarter or $72/year), the tier actually goes up then back down.

Here are the basics: (all in "tier" column include the 512sq included with premium)

Costs in Linden are based on you selling that amount of linden$ to get the cost/512sq. Market on 11th Aug.

.....Tier..........Cost.........Cost/512sq in USD......Cost/512sq in L$
....512sq........US$0....................0.............................0
....1024sq......US$5..................2.50........................750
....1536sq......US$8..................2.65........................795
....2560sq......US$15................3.00........................900
....4508sq......US$25................2.78........................834
....8704sq......US$40................2.35........................705
....16896sq....US$75................2.27........................695
....33280sq....US$125..............1.90........................600
....66048sq....US$195..............1.50........................500

So, there you go. What you pay per 512sq on each tier level not including your premium account cost. Goes to show how much more money you can make the richer you get, eh?

Time Is Equally Required?

Anyway it does make sense in a way...normally things that are at the top of the price structure are cheaper then the cheapest...volume discount if you will...look at the premium account figures. If you pay the $72 a year it only costs you $6 a month as opposed to $91.96 a year at $22.99 a quarter and $119.88 a year at $9.99 a month.

I put the dots because for some reason it's changing all cap words to cap first letter, little rest...

Silly thing :(

your numbers are not totally accurate. You are including the "free" first 512 but you are not including the 10 to 6 dollars a month required to get that "free" land. If you

A) counted both the free first land and it's cost
or
b) counted neither first land nor its free cost then you woudl have a more accurate picture

512=6$
1024=5.5$
1536=4.66$
2560=4$

etc...

I did state it does include the 512sq free but that that money because of the fact I worked this out for myself and Just posted it incase anyone else finds it useful.

Also, think of it this way. You pay for yearly and sell the stipends in the LindeX, you'll get your money back. That's the way it was worked out.

Your figures are slightly off unless your taking it by a rental basis. As for actually having tier would be costing someone 10 bucks for a premium account inwhich case half the account is going to the stipend and the other half is going to the tier. So the first actual 512 sq meters isnt costing 0 dollars its costing 5 + your paying the premium fee of 5 for the stipend. You then have the 1024 consisting of 2 512 sq meter plots both costing 5 and the 1536 ='s out to 13 as opposed to 8 then you got 20 for 2560 30 for 4508 45 for 8704 80 for 16896 130 for 33280 and 200 even for 66048. Your flaw lies in taking it from the rental perspective where they likely are not including that first bit of land because they are getting the stipend per month which is likely covering it.

The other thing to look at is the cost with a premium is always 10 dollars more then the tier is. So 512 = 10 ,1024 = 15 , 1536 = 18, 2560 = 25, 4508 = 35, 8704 = 50 , 16896 = 85, 33280 = 135 and 66048 = 205. So in likely hood its more expensive to buy land then it is to rent simply because your minusing out the premium costs however you can be kicked off the land at any time and you dont actually Own the land and you end up paying a little extra in all obviousness because the people are trying to turn a profit.

^About the premium thing. I worked it out at a rental perspective with the stipend covering the costs of the yearly fees.

And yes, it is much better to rent in most cases than owning land, but somebody has to own it for you to rent it...

I might've had I not had a spreadsheet that tells me exactly how much I'm paying per sqm, per prim both monthly and weekly and that also calculate how much I need to charge for rent to get my teir paid (including LindeX fees). It even let's me put in custom $L to USD ratios and projects my proffits based on what's occupied and the value of $L. Fascinating stuff to see what happens when the value of the $L changes dramatically hehe.

Is that because you don't know how to use it propperly? And there are alternative spreadsheet programs out there.

The best thing I like about it is being able to input a $L value in one spot, and having all my figures change throughout the rest of the sheet so data analysis is a matter of seconds rather than having to manually figure the math each time the $L fluctuates.
