I don't understand the significance of this Buster, can you explain please?
Also, the size of the sims for sale varies, yet they are all set at 1k - does this seem reasonable to you? Alexa _____________________

Wow. I'm on tenterhooks ! What will happen ? Will they really make enough available to stop non-telehubs ever going above the first bid ?
This is SO fascinating ! Am I a get-a-life pathetic geek(ess), d'you think ? _____________________

I don't understand the significance of this Buster, can you explain please? The full implications and immediate history are far too complex and subtle to communicate in one post, Alexa. If you have time on your hands, dig around in the last month's postings. It'll be fascinating detective work, and if you have the right sort of mind, you can then watch this battle with true enjoyment. The new "bid now" feature is going to bring it all to a head, and almost anything could happen............... _____________________

This is exciting. It's always fun when things are turned upsidedown.
They can really only afford to keep a few sims online waiting to be aucitoned. We can't expect them to release the whole crater's worth of sims at one time and leave them sitting for days and weeks on end. _____________________

Whew! I was worried there for a bit - I thought for a while that LL had completely sold out to the big-time land speculators. I guess they just got delayed due to the urgent update roll-out.
Alexa, the significance of this is that now anyone who thinks an auction price on one sim is climbing too high can simply go get another instead. This eliminates the cutthroat nature of the auctions and makes it possible for people to plan out new sim purchases with a lot more predictability. _____________________

Alexa The significance is that residents now control the rate at which new sims are added to the world. This is a huge change (if it holds). *Nobody* has enough money to monopolize the auctions when the supply is unlimited. I predict that will tend to subdue the largest barons, becuase people will come along who are willing to pay $1,000 and no more for a sim. Those people will keep starting auctions until they win. Barons who want to stand in their way will have to buy a lot of expensive sims to stop them. The sim sizes vary because of Linden Land in them. I have not had a chance to look at any of the new sims to see if there are any with first land in them -- that would make them a lot less desirable. 1k is just the starting bid. I expect that more desirable sims will still get bid up to $1500 or even $2000 for one with a telehub in the middle. Bottom line is that the average price for new land on the auctions is going to go up. Just my opinion. Buster |

Alexa The different sizes indicates what part is Linden Land, or rather how much is not Linden land. So while some sims may show less land, they are actually more desireable because it means a Linden road or train or something will go through it, or it will have a valuable telehub. At least that's what I mean it to be. _____________________
the truth is overrated ![]() The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better? ![]() |
