For those of you who pay attention to the auctions, we had a new resident mis-bid and win on several auctions, in order to maintain fairness (as many of the auctions were bid very high by this resident), we have decided to cancel all of the affected auctions and repost them in the coming week instead of offering them to the next highest bidder as we normally do. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Jeska, have you considered using Dutch auctions instead of listing them individually? I'm not 100% into the rules regarding them, but I would think it a better and easier to maintain option.

Alan, Dutch auctions are used when you have multiple identical items up for sale. Plots are never identical in the auctions (size, location, PG/M, etc), so those could never work here.

I was puzzled as to how a flat, non-telehub, rather dull sim could be going at auction for a whopping $1502 for some 16,000 acres??? And it got jacked up from $800 something to $1502? By a player who was only about a week old? Hey, that's one *hell* of a first-land right-click!!!! I guess I find it hard to understand what this is really about, unless the player thought it was Lindens, not real dollars.

So then what your saying is from now on if any of us mis-bid on the auctions or just don't want a piece of land, you'll refund our money and relist them? Or just for this one person who 'accidentally' bid 1500 dollars?
Several weeks ago I contacted y'all about an auction that seemed to actually raise my bid above my max bid and no one would even check into it, so whats the deal? Is this person just more cool than the rest of us?

Apparently it differs from the traditional English auction in that prices start high, and bidders bid when the price becomes low enough that they're interested. Try googling for it. (Edit: Though they are frequently used on eBay for selling multiple items, the format can be used to sell single items.)

Um, actually I thought Jeska was talking about a set of mis-bids for the current set of ebay 'Sponsored links' auctions. Sorry. *blush*
Y'all got me curious though, what was the land auction that went funny? I don't peruse them anymore.

Look in the "completed auctions" records on this web site.
The land in question was called Keener.
