This is, I hope, a little more useful for people... Since the other poll had so many questions about where things go, and not many choices.

I realize it's still missing MANY options, but the poll limits choices to 10, so I tried to include as many as I felt had a good shot at having more than one person doing them, and left a generic "other" option for those cases.

I would have added "Education" and "Clerical" as two other categories.

Just cause you write it on your taxes doesn't make it so.

Thanks for a good choice of categories, given the limit of ten. The generic 'other' is probably the only realistic solution to that limit.

The difficulty with this poll, regardless of its merits in granularity and differentiation over mine, is that it doesn't have as good compliance. People are coming to it, looking at, not figuring it out, and leaving it.

There's not enough people answering it to tell enough.

What we're seeing is that enough people are putting in "management" or "other" who might have been in "computer" in my poll.

It shows about 10 percent less of those polled saying they are in IT/computer.

But it does show this group is the majority of those poster on the forums; hence the tekkie culture.

Does anyone think it relevant to use a poll created by someone who is in the employment/recruitment industry - some say, like me?

This really isn't that completed, as there are pretty standard & common catagories used by HR departments throught the US.

Hey, I tried. I still consider it far more reliable than the one you posted.

Yes, the goal was to see if your limited poll was causing some people to check IT/computer when in fact that was only a tangental aspect to their job.

Nobody doubted that techies probably formed the largest single group of posters. That was never in question. What I questioned was the assumption that they were the majority (Particularly, the vast majority) of posters here in general. Which ALL the polls, yours included, have disproven.

Merwan: Go for it! I'm just a writer, I don't do this type of stuff. Though there are like four polls now already...
