Had a nice time with my girlfriends on our yacht in Baltic. Overall it was really fun, but a few things I noticed that could have improved it.

1. Make the water deeper. MUCH deeper.
2. Add fish and plants
3. Make it create but give it a 24hr timer

What I wanted to do was be able to take the yacht out and play with the waverunner, do some diving, and launch the skydiving pod off the back for some parachuting. But there was nothing to see under the water and the pod kept falling off world after launch and it had to be dragged all the way from Baffin. Baffin has a nice pavillion area and many of the public lands have some nice buildings-why not give the same care to the public water lands? And how about more public forests?

Just a thought

You can do all that and then some at Dragon Moon.

The water sims used to be inaccessible like the "water" between the private island sims. LL used older simulators to provide open spaces to boat and fly through instead of voids. The items you are asking for require server support. At the time these water sims were added, we were pretty pleased to be able to fly through rather than around these areas. Of course, people who joined since then are not aware of this. :)

As another poster mentioned, there are private sims which can provide you with the experience you are looking for. I would add that the southeast sims have waterways up to 80 meters in depth.

This is true, and I love DM to be sure, but I can't sail out of sight of land at DM. I can't be surrounded by water and nothing else.

I understand about the server load...but it can still be deeper. And they can still allow objects. That said, I'm still very glad to have the empty sims.

Something to note is that the water sims are 'void simulators' - an experiment done a while back where 4 areas worth of sims are hosted on a single machine.

I *may* be mistaken but I think the latest batch of void sims were installed on old machines that had been updated.

So theres a trade off there - in order for them to have these spaces we can fly through (rather than a 'brick wall' as it was beforehand) - we have to sacrifice some of the flexability we'd have in a 'normal sim' - I'd like for there to be something there (even if it were 'linden tree' seaweed) - but I don't know how much the machines could bear (or what they have to deal with atm).

I know, Fury! :( I'd love to have "real" water sims around every island too and I'd love to sail the SL oceans, visiting island sims and stuff like that. Let's hope that some day it will be possible.

Go to the sim off the coast of Scafell...can't think of the name of it atm, starts with an H...sail on out to the center of the sim, and then turn your draw distance down to 64M...nothin' but water baby. :)

There are large stretches of sailable water ... a whole huge lake of about 9 sims last time I looked ... and some lovely waterside homes at the shore ... yet when I look at the map, I see nobody, absolutely nobody, sailing on them.

Take a look at this thread by Heather Rockwell, a SL resident almost finished circumnavigating the entire SL "globe" in the true-sailing 42-footer Trudeau yacht: "Sailing around the SL world" at /108/ac/83547/1.html

Or this one about the regular sailboat races: /110/13/51075/1.html

It is possible. Lovely sailing dingies with realistic sailing action cost one Linden at the yacht club. Why aren't you doing it now?

Believe me, there are plenty of people in Sl who want to sail, maybe not to race. I picked out my rental home based on that premise, and I am looking for land based on that same desire.

I want sailable water areas!

I have introduced a number of my SL friends to the joy of Tako sailing. It's a great sailboat. What a pleasure to be out in a boat with friends, chatting away, running aground, getting suddenly bounced out of barricaded water property and having to get out and explore. I have more Takos in my lost and found than I know what to with.

Dragon Moon?
Baltic?
Scafell?
I'll look at these areas, in addition to Hollywood and Cayman. Any more places?
