Group Land and Money Debits

Well, was curious since I haven't been able to get much answer from the wikis or from Linden Labs so far, so thought I'd bring the question up with the other residents. Do any of you know what brings about a group debit to cause a group to owe lindens? Trying to figure this out since my group got hit by a big one, and I was forced to remove everyone from the group til either I figured it out, or swallow the cost myself. Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

Good luck with that, I've had the same problem. Dwell is split up among all members (worth about 6 lindens a day, yay). But there are also groub debits... I have no clue where those are coming from, nor who they are paid out to.

Groups need some work!

Yep, I've seen a couple of those, in small amounts thankfully, and was curious what that was for.

...those confuse the heck out of me, too, and i've always assumed that i'm the only person who doesn't know the 'rules' which drive group accounting...my group balances always seem to at least break even in the long run, though, so i've shrugged it off...

TalisDro,

In my experience, this is caused every Tuesday when the 30L for listing the land in FIND kicks in. If you have a lot of different land listed, that would be a major debit.

Also, group dividend is considered a debit, so your total balance will always tend towards 0.

Hope that helps! :)

An entry in the "Find Places" list costs the owner of the plot L$30 a week for every individual plot listed.

If the plot is transfered to group ownership, the group then pays this L$30 which is deducted from any money the group holds. If this results in a negative balance for the group then individual members are charged by the group until the group has a positive balance.

Sorry, this does not answer the question or resolve the issue.

We have group land, neighbors that joined up.
We all notice a 'group debit'

None of us have our land listed for $30 a week

No one is really getting to this issue or offering valid help. Help pages on this issue lead to bad weblinks...

Ok, I received the answer.. this is a tidbit from a notecard:

The group's liability is also the *distribution of credits* -- and because the system does not deal with remainders, this can be the most confusing part of all. An incoming credit of dwell or a land sale for a group then DEBITS as it goes out to PAY each member. Thus, a land sell does not lead to a LOSS when it is shown as a "liability" -- it is merely a payment that the system must make to its members. Think of "liability" as *your share* of income, not only your share of costs.

basically the group debits are nothing to worry about... the group isn't paying large sums.. it's just paying out it's members.

This was very hard to find info on.
