Hi everyone, I hope I am posting in the right section but if not let me know.

Anyways, I would like to hear the opinion of the SL public of a taking a firm public via an initial public offering.

After doing business within Second Life for over 2 years since May 04, I have found myself at a crossroad. I operate a rental operation at Sunset Beach and surrounding islands, as well as other businesses such as financial services, as well as an event hall at North Paris. Most of these businesses are doing well, and others are still under development.

Recently, me and my executives felt that while our firm is a solid operation and we have the capacity to expand our corporation, we lack the financial resources to do it. It has been a great issue of debate within the firm, but we have decided that by turning Kavai Conglomerate Group public, we could very well acquire those resources to expand our profit margins and fuel expansion.

I would like to see what the public response towards such an undertaking. I am well aware that Cyberland has done this before and I have also spoke with Shaun Altman on this issue. Please give me your views here.

I think I could invest in something like this if I saw some 3rd party auditing.

I think I'd also like to see a list of people that can vouch for you - people I know, respect, and trust.

To be honest, I wouldn't invest in an SL corp where there is zero accountability or legal recourse when I could invest in an RL firm instead.

Kavai, you got a good rep and a lot of experience, why not let the people who believe in you the most invest directly?

In February I had a waiting list for land, but not enough land.

The waiting list folk decided that I should take some money up front from them to buy another sim. And TOLD me to do it because they were sick of waiting.

I listened, and because I paid attention to what they were saying I'm now terraforming sim # 5.

I draw a map of the sim to come, and make a notecard. People come by and reserve plots on the map by placing little markers with their name on it.

When I'm sure that the sim has enough interested people I go back and collect advance payments, then buy the sim that same day. Whole process takes a few days at most.

The sim is financially viable before it even exists, and people get their land pretty fast. I give out founder's seals to those who had faith and 'opened a sim' with me.

For whatever reason, these seals have turned out to be insanely popular, and you can barely walk down a street without seeing one by someone's front door.

Anyway, ignore all this - I think it would be kinda cool to see Shaun's stock market get going too. The time is starting to be 'right' for it. If I didn't have Caledon to invest all my money in, I'd seriously consider investing in your operation.

I think the stock market will be soon full with land barons. After all, land is the only thing that demands so much money. Building a shoes or scripting gadgets doesn't require much capital, right? ^^

Hi Kavai...as Desmond Shang mentioned, try the people you have worked with before first.

You have been very trust-worthy, I hear only good things about you, and I would do business with you again.

Thanks,

Construction does, especially if you're building something large (office building or city) and need to upload a few $Lk worth of textures. We need more construction companies in SL... And unions :D

Back in the day Kavai, we did a lot of business together. some things just weren't up your alley, but I helped to show you the ropes a bit as far as business in SL went. Though we have not done business with each other for some time now, VGI has become a very large and very profitable business in SL. We are willing to finance some of your projects that you are seeking money for. With over 1.5 Million L$ in company holdings, we are willing to invest some of it for future returns. Let me know how much you need, and we can work out a deal.

So far the response I had recieved is great. Our firm currently has a raw book value of roughly 3.6 million L$ given we liquidated all our assets today.

We are seeking to raise hopefully more than 7 million L$ to fund our master plan for Sunset, which has achieved 100% occupancy for the 4th week straight. I am also considering what venues are available for me to IPO. MSE has showed some interest but I would like to see what other venues are available.

Are there any underwriters out there that would be interested in acquiring over 5% of the new KCG?

Once public, underwriters definitely have the right to freely buy and sell their stake in KCG.

Our priority of expansion after the IPO will be mainly based on the expansion of Sunset Islands. The sims are already full for several weeks and I believe the time is right to expand the business to new heights.

We are also looking to launch a currency exchange, as well as plans to provide an escrow service in co-op with another major firm in SL business.

The IPO will also provide needed capital for the North Paris Entertainment project, where we should be able to launch all our event hosting capabilities.

If the exchange caters to traders and the fees are less than LindenX,
then its game time. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

Make sure we can also Short Sell the linden dollar and trade futures contracts.

Well, the currency exchange is composed of 2 components:

The first is a fixed rate exchange where we simply offer Lindens at a fixed rate, and also buy at a fixed rate.

The second is an open market, much like the Lindex. We are hoping to launch the operation with the co-op of major retailers around SL. Of course in terms of cost, we have to be extra competitive with the Lindex, and yes, you can be sure our rates will give LL a run for their money.

IGE.com already beat you to the punch. Old news...

Now you are talking. Rates that make trading with your more profitable
than LindenX? Do I hear Arbitage time coming? LindenX, SLExchange, IGE,
and more.... Times will be good for traders.
