Here's a screenshot of someone selling L$938K of linden, I think it was around an even 1 million when it first went up but i refreshed it a few times to watch it drop a bit before thinking of taking a screenshot for the forum. http://scam-check.com/massamountsoflindenselling.jpgWho would sell that much unless they had to pay for multiple sim tier? I ask this because the maximum withdraw of $USD allowed from SL to paypal/cheque is $2000.00 USD a month. The value of the linden has been rising so do you think maybe linden is trying to slow that down and balance things (which is a ridiculous thought) or maybe someone was smart enough to save their money until the value rose up again. idk. Anyways i just wanted to show you guys, and i wish taht was me selling that much lol.

It could also very well be one of the many land barons who DO pay for multiple sims, rent them out, and make a major profit. Most of them have also applied to go beyond the 2000/day limit, which affirms this a bit more. Nobody else has that much money to kick around. :\

Yeah, you can apply to get your limit raised. If you have more than 10 sims, I can see why Linden Labs would raise the limit for you, so you could sell enough L$ to cover your sims.

It's relatively easy to get approval to sell off more than 2000 USD; many of us have it. I think all it takes is a quick email and some reasonable evidence. Such as perhaps: a transaction history indicating a need for business tier. There are a lot of people with multiple sims who can sell off an amount like that, or literally *have* to sell off an amount like that every month. I doubt it is the Company affecting anything just yet (though I could be wrong).

I retract my earlier post. I just now realized that this is the Land & Economy forum, and that my above entry lacked the sort of drama that L&E threads usually do. Ammended: zOMG LL IS SELLING TEH L$ RUN THE SKY IS FALLING THE LINDEX IS GONNA CRASH AND WE'RE ALL GONNA LOSE OUR MONEYS!!!!!111oneeleven

From: Chri5 Somme Crap land barons must make a fortune. The good ones make even more. There's a shedload of money to be made in land rental... unfortunately you need a lot of money up front in the first place, something which many of us do not have the luxury of. Lewis

I suppose someone cashing out might have that sort of L$ to sell too, or someone liquidating mainland holdings to move 'offshore'?

Could also be a Trader clearing out their positions, if they've bought when it was 340 they would have made a killing!

Not beyond some content creators too. I would not be surprised if there are some content creators who cash out this much each month.

From: Lewis Nerd There's a shedload of money to be made in land rental... unfortunately you need a lot of money up front in the first place, something which many of us do not have the luxury of. Prebook a sim. Here's how. 1) Keep aside 4096m of the sim for stuff you make that gives the sim flavour. Show this stuff, and a map of the sim with plots outlined, to interested parties. 2) 61440m remains to be let out. Let's presume it's $L 300 per USD. Charge $L 4 per meter for land prior to opening (nets 819.20 USD). 3) So now you need 430.80 more to buy the sim and pay tier. Well, charging 6 cents per meter per month is fairly reasonable, so prebook some time in advance. How about 3 months? Three months advance for a fully booked sim is 61440m x .006 x 3, which nets you 1105.92 USD. 4) So everyone is excited. You have 819.20 + 1105.92 = 1925.12 USD in your account, having sold all the $L. Well, not quite. Fees, LindeX variances - call it a mere 1800 USD to be safe. 1800 USD - 1250 USD for the sim, - 195 x 2 (two months tier; first month is free, terraform it quick!) = 160 USD. Voila! You just launched your own sim for: nothing but planning effort. Well, okay, you actually end up with 160 USD or more in the process. Which the residents will *want* you to retain, for the sake of their own stability if a few people move on. * * * * * I don't book so far in advance, since I can afford to put some money into a new sim. I may discontinue prebooking entirely someday - it's just that people keep asking for specific kinds of plots in 'my next sim' whatever it may be. Also, my risks are a lot lower, because I'm established already and I was fortunate enough to have a community sprout up - something I have *no* idea about, it simply happened. But Lewis, yes, with a bit of planning you *can* launch a sim easily. It doesn't matter so much if people generally like you or not - much of it is: are you *trustable* with money. I daresay, even many who would disagree with you in forums would trust you with their money. With your daily postings, conservatism, involvement in Stratics, and other efforts, I certainly would.

There's been also Relay for Life money collecting done for a while... quite likely some of collectors are converting this money now into USD to transfer them to final destination? ^^;

Uhm... at that exchange rate, you're talking about less than $3,200 worth of L$. If you think that's a lot of money, let me show you how I can spend it in just a few days without ever spending it on a single luxury. LL got an $11 million investment not long ago. Do you really think it's worth their time to even piddle around with a measly $3,200? Please. P2

I understand that, for example, Tayzia Abbatoir's Relay group and Torrid Midnight's group have thus far raised over L$1 million and $2 million respectively. (Hope that wasn't some sort of secret.)
