This is not the usual IGE overstocked message:
"We are not currently accepting currency on this server (1)"
They stopped buying L$s(Of course we have no idea if they started to buy directly from LL).

Why would anyone in their right mind buy anything that will have less value tomorrow.

IGE Server Issues
05-09-2006 19:14
I tried several ways to transact with IGE earlier. Different games, trading currencies between games, etc....
Kept getting the same message "Not accepting currency on this server at this time". Assume they are having major server problems and that they have not stopped dealing in $L's. |

Out of all the MMORPG ames out there who bitched and complained about places like IGE buying and selling the game curency and items, LL actually did something about it and squashed it! LL did it themselves, and made it much easier and safer to buy the game money from the game maker than from a 3rd party. Very smart on LL's part. Too bad they destroyed several large traders in the process. Now that the competition is out of the way, LL can do what they like with the value of the L$!

IGE havn't bought isk for EVE online for a few years (maybe longer), but they still sell it. In EVE's case I think they get more than they need direct from macro miners an so-on.

I wouldn't take it too personally, as indicating anything about SL.
IGE has just been purchased by another (big) company, and it's entire OGaming network is being merged into another network (which was also purchased), and there's doubtless some restructuring going on. |

What IGE needs to do is create a market trading floor
with currency pairs across all of their game currencies. That would turn IGE into the biggest Virtual Currency dealer on the planet. But for some reason, they still want to stick with the old "retailer" business model of buy low, sell high. _____________________

Why would anyone in their right mind buy anything that will have less value tomorrow. That's what people have been doing with L$ for months. The L$ value is only a problem if you base a real life income of any capacity on play money. Lewis _____________________

If this is going where I think it's going, it will be fantastic change in my opinion. People need to stop looking at Second Life as a business and more like a hobby. Play Second Life because you like to create things as a hobby, not because you're wanting something to sell and be compensated for. ![]() |

Lewis Well Lewis, Here is a suggestion to LL, End Lindex, sell directly L$ to residents for L$1000000 / 1USD. How is this Lewis? So all residents can buy whatever they want? And there is no exchange rate problems? LL, lets "test" it. |

So all residents can buy whatever they want? And there is no exchange rate problems? LL, lets "test" it. SL's greatest flaw is that there are no goals, so there's no way to earn money except buying it or selling stuff to other players, and no way to achieve any sort of status except by being a 'known quality scripter' or 'known quality house builder' or 'known land baron' or whatever. So within SL's economy, there's no need to work to get anything you wish, as long as someone sells it. You can't unlock a special weapon, armour, vehicle, skill, item or whatever by making an effort. It's partly why such a high percentage of created accounts log in once or twice - there's simply nothing to be gained by doing so, and only a small percentage have the skills to make money enough to cash out. Considering pyramid schemes are against the ToS, it's odd how SL can be considered one great big pyramid scheme with the power players like Anshe Chung at the top, and the little guys like me right at the bottom struggling to keep going against all the odds. LL can try to force a fixed price, but outside markets will become the new LindenX and reprice the L$'s value accordingly.. _____________________

LL can try to force a fixed price, but outside markets will become the new LindenX and reprice the L$'s value accordingly.. Lol cant believe some people took this suggestion serious ![]() ![]() here is another "brilliant" idea for LL: Remove L$, no currency in the game, if someone buys something, bill their USD accounts. And get all the money. Oh wait, sometimes send emails to the content creators: "Congrulations, you made 1000usd for LL this month, LL apreciates this. You are what a wonderfull content creator. Now LL is really rich. " If someone complains about this on the forums, just ignore. And tell them: "if you dont like SL just leave. We have a great potential, tousands are joining each week. So we dont need you, and we are simply ignoring your complaints.Well, wait, here we changed the tos again this month we will charge the content creators usd10 each ![]() Well another brilliant idea: make sim tiers $500 instead of $195, WOW, what a big source, what can they do? selling lands? to whom?Leaving SL?Who cares, they have no alternatives. |
