I rented a house and before I could save my location or set it to my home I ported out. It's not part of any community that I know of but is by the beach. Balcony is right above front door and there is a dock on the back. Any ideas on where that might be or how I can find it? Also tried contacting the lady I rented from bt she hasn't been on recently. Please help me.

I don't know what to suggest, other than contacting the person. Was it near any sims who's names you can remember? How long has it been since you tried to contact the person? If it's been a while, it's odd foe a landlord not to check their IM more frequently.

Try looking at your landlord's profile to see if the land is in her favorites "Picks" tab.

Good suggestion Raster.

Also, it it group owned? I imagine it would be... maybe check the group info and see if there's another officer or someone you can contact, even another tenant may be nearby.

If you can't remember a group name, you can glean it from the profile.

I am the "landlord" in question. Do you all think that 24 hours is too long to get back to someone as was the case here. I am new to this and need all the advice I can get. Thanks

Generally I'd say yes, it's too long. Can I ask, do you have your IMs sent to email? It might be worth it - so that if you're away from somwhere you can access SL you can see the IMs and send an email back explaining the situation. For something like this specific instance you can probably tell the person where the plot was anyway if you're new to it.

We all accept that people have real lives (well most of us accept it), and 24h for a full resolution isn't bad - but for contact in this day and age it's pretty slow IMO.

That said, a resolution that all parties are happy with is generally good news all round - I had a necklace I'm fond of and that has special significance get swallowed by the asset server. I IMed the creator, whose name I could fortunately remember since I'd told someone their name the previous day. It took her a couple of days to get back to me, and a couple of weeks for a replacement to come (it was a copiable necklace, so no problems there) but the creator explained they were on a RL business trip and couldn't log on from the hotel, so I was happy that I knew what was going on.

Thanks for the info, though I doubt my employer (who monitors usage of email as do many US firms) would agree that answering SL queries was a good use of my time.

If you need to have IMs sent to email, but want to avoid filling your work inbox with personal matters, there's always google mail.

Yup gMail, yahoo etc. Check them online from work during breaks if you're allowed. Even without - a check before work and getting home and just before bed gives you an 8 hourish cycle most of the time...
