Sticky Plants! Cant delete from my land...

I have some 512 land that I just annexed .. .it has some plants/weeds that I want to get rid of. They dont show up in the object ownership of my property, but I can select them. They are owned by a neighbor (who never seems to log in), and I can't delete or return them.

Shouldn't I be able to delete a plant on my property?

I'm wondering if it's a bug that will resolve the next time the Sim is restarted...

First off, when I first saw the title of this thread, I read "Sticky Pants"

Anyway....

The way it works is, if the 'root prim' of an object is over your neighbors land, it counts against their prim count, and you can't delete/return it. Yes, it sucks.

Here's how I'd reccomend handling it:

1. Start sending (nice & neighborly) IMs to your neighbor, kindly asking if they could move the object from overlapping your land. Keep track of the times you've sent IMs.

(3 days is probably enough for Step 1)

2. If that doesn't work, file an abuse report, and note in your Abuse Report that you've attempted to contact your neighbor with no success, and give the times. Additionally, send an email with the same information to support@lindenlab.com

(Wait for 3 days for a response from your abuse report/support request in Step 2)

3. If you get no response to any of the above, make a post in the Land Management forum, asking for help. Detail that you've attempted to contact your neighbor unsuccessfully, and that you've already filed an abuse report & contact support with no response.

(Step 3 you'll probably get a response on within 48 hours, IF you followed 1 & 2 first)

Yes, its a sucky process. But I think you've got the best chance for a positive results if you follow the above suggestions.

Good Luck! :)

Just checked with bucky over at his place.

The plants can be selected but can't be highlighted. Can anyone who uses temprez plant generators confirm if this is what's happening?

I'm not sure what you mean by highlighted, but temprez plants can be selected as a group like any other object. The key would be to turn on your beacons for scripted objects, because things can't be rezzed beyone 10 meters of the permanent object, it should be close to the offending temporary plants. You still have the same problem as a root being on the neighbors land as the temp rez plants can only be deleted by deleting the permanent object rezzing the plants.

People should note that using alot of temp on rez plants can cause some serious lag. I did some experiments in a empty sim. It took 1024 rezzers to max out the scripting time. That may seem like alot of rezzers, but it is not that many if temp on rez plants become widely used in a single sim for people that buy the 10 to 20 prim plants that act like 1 prim on their prim count.

They're not land tool plants? You can un-land-tool them.

@Rob

I was able to click on them (my selector particles were moving towards the plant) but the plant does not get the orange or yellow glow of being highlighted. All other objects in the area can be selected normally. I can see the plant creator and owner (same name) but that's all.

I did a check for scripts while I was on site earlier and it appears that there are one or more scripts within range (one spot). That's why I was suspecting temprez.

That's all the data I have from the visit. bucky has IMed the plant owner.

Though it's not my problem it still would be nice to know why they don't highlight.

If you place it using the edit function it's created by you if you place it from the library it's created by a linden.

Ok, confirmed. Linden plants it is. Probably launched by the temprezzer.

Sigh, probably planted by whoever had the land previously....

Oh, and temprezzers are bad.

I think you better request cleanup in the Second Life Land Management forum.

Also by "Linden plants" we mean the default plants available in your build menu. If you rez them, you're the creator and owner.
