If you could think of an ideal market value in $ for the L, what would it be pegged at?
I ran figures about how much the L actually is. But how much would the market want it to be if pegged?

Since the start of GOM, the L values have been up and down. For the most part, they have been in the area of $4.50/1000.

I personally think consistancy of value is more of a concern than the actual value that consistancy starts at. I think the economy would benefit just as much if the $L 1000 was wroth US$.95-US$1.05 as it would if $L1000 was worth US$9.50-US$10.50. It would kill the day traders if it changed that little, but in-world trade would then occur without the buying and selling sides having to guess at what the actual value was.

US$4.00 to US$3.50 is a -12.5% change. We all know that change happened in a very short time. It is that huge amount of change that hurts more than the value itself. If I had time to change my prices before something pegged the price at a constant level, I wouldn't care what value was chosen.

I believe LL try to keep the value of the L$ at around $4/L$1000 by using sinks and bonus'..

But I can't find the quote, think it was at a town hall..

I would agree with that. It doesn't matter where the exchange rate is. Commerce likes stability.
