Question about PG sims /porn/violence

Hi,

A friend of mine sent me a landmark to a Gorean Taravan that's located in celerio (1/2 sim) (PG), it contained sexually explicit material etc. I was wondering what rights a land owner has in regard to what he/she can put in their own land, if one was to set the Mature bit in land, is it possible to include sexual material etc?

What's the definition of PG for example. If I bought land in PG and then built about 500 meters up and put some adult stuff would that still be considered a violation of PG? And if the mature bit is set does that change anything?

Also is there any price difference between PG and Mature land?

Mature is well for mature material and I dont know of a way to limit your land to PG material. PG is material that can be shown on American Telivision. In other words rather prudish and opressive. No nudity, no swearing and no sex roleplaying.

My suggestion would be if you want PG buy in a PG sim and if you want Mature buy in a mature sim.

If there is a place with explicit material in a PG sim file an abuse report and it should get removed.

Not quite true, Ranma. I believe it was Pathfinder who said that PG does not equal Disneyland, and Mickey Mouse isn't waiting to throw you out if you say "fuck" or "shit".

Certainly, I've never felt particularly "oppressed" in a PG sim, and the FCC would rapidly fine me, were I on the air.

Is this enforced for private property that's not on ground but say 500 or 700 m above?

And does anyone know if the "Mature" option in about land does anything in PG land? I'm not even sure why that option would be there if it can't be set in PG and Mature is naturally mature.

"The content/conduct in a PG rated sim can not contain nudity, sexual content, or profanity. PG sims can be damage-enabled and weapons can be present (sold, used, etc.)."

There is a link here to the same thing for Mature, which states:

"The conduct/content in a mature sim may include (among other things) profanity, nudity, and sexual content. These do however have their limits as well. Nudity and sexual content (paintings, images, etc.) must be indoors and not visible to the outside of a build (especialy if facing a PG sim). Rules given by the Community Standards and TOS must still be followed, except for where Mature rules are mentioned."

They compare them both to TV ratings as well, but basically this is what I think of when trying to define "Mature" in an SL-context: nudity, sex, profanity. If you will have any of those things on your parcel/island, you need to make it mature. If you don't want those things, make it PG so that you can report abuse.

I have watched American TV and it is BORING. I don’t understand why anyone would want to watch it. American Idiot and Survivor are impossible to watch through. I have tried and always find an excuse to leave the room. I have been watching my Japanese TV live over the special Sat dish. It is a service of the Dish Network. I get to watch NHK news though it is strange watching the morning news in the late afternoon.

Suppose you are right about being not oppressive. It does have the advantage of not having Goreans next to you! Correct me if I am wrong, I think that inside private residences that can't be seen from the outside can not be AR. Especially if the land controls are being used and the only way to see inside is a Camera.

Oh Janet Jackson would have been ok on Japanese TV. People would have thought it was a commercial for breast reconstruction or a new type of bra, etc.

I wonder how (especialy if facing a PG sim) bit works. I guess they must have a distance defined to say facing PG sim.

You're wrong, I believe. In Mature sims, yes, that matters - but in a PG sim, merely existing in the sim is technically enough for someone to AR you. (But again, I've had stuff that trods the line... it's as much "don't be an ass so people don't want to AR you" as "don't do it", y'know?)

It's funny to see Goreans living in that PG sim. But I don't think Lindens have anything against RP'ing in PG sims right? But their lifestyle would automatically lead to non-PG I suppose.

Is there a land buying advantage to PG vs Mature? Is PG cheaper than Mature?

Ok these two responses of mine are not factual and more of based on my experiences as an island owner.

1) The Lindens do not patrol/monitor/enforce "as much" on private islands as they do on the mainland. So a PG private island with nekkid people is not going to be as big of a deal to them as a nekkid person on a mainland PG parcel. This may not be on purpose, but I believe they leave a lot of the enforcing of rules up to the estate managers (ie: with the ability to ban people, etc).

2) I have heard and been told that Mature land is worth more. To me, it really just depends on what you want to do. I guess Mature allows you to do more (ie: sexballs yay), but as far as building and scripting and having simple social gatherings, they are the same.

I invesigated this sim and could find no Goreans!

Not one and no mature content. I saw some land that might and I mean might be owned by a dom group but am not even positive about that.

It looks like a very quiet Sim to me!

The Goreans are there, if you come to the south sea side and fly up to around 200 m you'd see them. They got a tavern, complete with dancing poles, pr0n, etc. Below that land are some circular hut like things that teleports you up but then teleports you down again.

If you look at the map it's the green and black area on it, they have one on upper right hand corner too.

I'll check again once I'm out of work and see if that place exists or not, but this morning it was there.

Unless it has changed in the last 2 years. I was flat told (because I asked) that no explicit sexual content was permitted in a PG sim. Cuddles and Kisses are one thing...but more than that is a most definite NO and is AR able. At that time it was strongly suggested to me that my hot tub with a lap sit cuddle should be placed indoors as it tread close to the line of what was allowable.

I saw dance poles..but unless one dances naked or topless upon them not ARable. If noone hears what you say, they cant AR it..

Mostly thats a relaxation garden, not a paga den (tavern).
