Groups using rented land have no abilities on it

Group abilities concerning land are available only for group owned land. If a group rent a land that land can be just SET to the group. This allows group set object to be permanent (not auto-returned) on that land but group members have no other abilities as planting trees or freeze/eject/ban.
Should we set a proposal to add a "allow group abilities" checkbox below "set to group" in parcel settings ?

I think it would be a good idea for anyone who rents land to be able to have permissions (through a group) to change the property title, media settings etc. It should be able to lock some options off (like land sale options)

I understand what you're saying correctly, the land ownership group can be used to give you the sorts of permissions you're after.

In fact it's the only way it can be done. Are you asking that a group should be able to give powers over its land to a different group? Seems very unlikely it will ever happen, the potential for long term abuse is just horrible.

off course not! As my group is deploying its project on rented land, The owner of the land has SET it to the group. But the owner does not want to DEED the land. So the only power group members have is to bypass autoreturn.

Your English is good, better than for many native speakers, but it was a little hard to follow there.

The problem with what you're asking is that the land belongs to the individual until they deed it to the group. Working out how to set it to group and allow group perms might be possible without deeding it though - I'd suggest posting to the Second Life Answers forum, and starting a vote for it first. The SLA response might just say "It's not possible" I don't know how many changes they can make like that, but they have said they're keeping an eye on group things and tweaks may happen, so asking now that way is good timing.

I believe if you are an officer of the group instead of just a member, you are then allowed tree-planting and other privilages.

Tree planting is now an Ability

The ability to plant trees is now part of the group permissions - you can grant permission to plant trees -- very cool.

Also, the group founder can set permissions on the group so that Officers cannot sell the land, making deeding more attractive for mainland landlords/group founders.

In addition, LL offers a 10% tier bonus for group land. So if you deed 4096m to a group, you get another 409m in tier to use :) Comes in handy when you are at the top end of your tier level.

Here's the response I receved on "Second Life Answers" forum:
From: Torley Linden

That sounds like it has some uses, but it might be more complicated than we might hope unless there was a clear way to implement it. So no plans to do this for now that I'm aware of, but we'll continue to take feedback on this.
