I am looking for valuations (Just generalise) as to how much rent I would get per month. Land is 1024sq, 234 prims. House Built-2 bedroom, modern, 2 story, very attractive Only one 512sq lot inbetween the land and the seaside (Looking to buy that land off it's owner. IF I aquire it, it will be 1536sq, 351 prims, on the sea) Could you value on both possibilities please? (1024sq, 1536sq) Just generalise as looking at the land won't help you anyway... It's not completely finished

Regarding being finished, my impression was that people preferred to put their own stuff out and chose renting as an alternative to buying land and paying tier directly to LL. As the world has grown, does that still hold true for the most part? Or does the typical renter look to move in, start socializing, and avoids the build part of SL, nowadays?

In my case I was looking to rent land and housing first until I felt I could either get established in the business aspect or I saved enough from my stipends to purchase or rent a plot myself. Seeing as how alot of land is cheaper than the stipend to rent I may just go and rent the land first then build on it. But I would think you would get more in the long run if you unrez'd the house and just rented the land itself.

Sorry, but even L$2000 doesn't even cover what this costs me per month... The idea of the house is to get more to cover my costs better... Generally 1024sq gets L$2000/month and that's Just not enough to cover how much it costs me... I worked out via this equation (9.95+ ---------- 3 How much I need per month for each 512sq lot I own, which will be 3 of them. That's US$6/month, which is approximately L$2000 per month, but that's generally what a 1024sq is fetching right now. I actually need long term tennants who are willing to pay that at first then when I tier up and buy more land AND get tennants in their, everyone's rent drops (or they get a rebate) because the land costs me less.

You do realize that the problem is that you will be competing against people who own more land, don't you? Therefore they can rent at a lower price and still cover tier. From the renter's pov, why should they pay more to cover your costs? The point I was making was that I have read posts from those in the businesses indicating that putting a house on a property seemed to be a waste of their time. Most people removed it, wanting to build their own or to mark the spot with their own style, I guess. I don't know if that still holds true; I'm not in the land business. Good luck, though.

Thanks... I know I'll be competing against a load of people with gazillions of private island or whatever who can rent for next to nothing.
My main goal is to get renters and upgrade my tier, buy more land, get more renters, upgrade my tier.
There's absolutely no point in me spending US$40/month when I can't even afford that much land right now. ATM I'm trying to buy only places where I would live myself, that way I should get renters. But it not only depends on price. Would you rather rent a plot of land next to a VERY laggy sandbox without any character in the land whatsoever for L$2000 per month or would you rent a piece of land the same size, with more character and by the sea on a new, quiet, less-lag sim for L$3000 per month?

From: Jayson Whittaker with more character and by the sea on a new, quiet, less-lag sim for L$3000 per month? may not be for long, I know the 512 chunk I bought in about a week, all the land went to hell. normal people bought it, but we already have all the huge spinning LOL SUCKERS, BUY MY OVERPRICED RIP OFF LAND in the sky and the giant helicopter sized landing pads telling me it's for sale at the low price of $3499 even though it was $512 before.....

We're talking about renting mate, not buying The idea of renting is for people who either can't signup to premium or who find it cheaper to rent than buy their own land And It does depend where you buy your firstland, yes, it's only L$512 to begin with, but once all property on that sim is sold, it isn't recognised as firstland. Especially the seaside land, everything starts going up in price. Think about it like this, if you want to buy firstland on an alt account, it will cost the following: 1) US$9.95 premium activation 2) US$9.95 premium deactivation You get approximately L$2000 from stipends and the signup grant, that can be sold to cover $6 approx of that $19.90 outlay. So you've effectively paid $13.90 for that firstland, which you would need to sell around L$4500 to cover. So, the land should be worth L$4500 at least, and don't get me started on how much it costs to keep that land on your main account. The land I currently have costs me US$9.95 premium + US$8 tier per month
