I was in Iris this morning and noticed it is all sliced up into auction plots. None of the stilted builds are for sale, but all the water around them is ready to be sold.
Iris just got a hub and the unique feel to the sim is a nice entry into the surrounding land/water. Iris is going to become a heap if the land there is sold. I can see the temple build dwarfed by huge builds making the hub next to impossible to exit.
Please preserve Iris as a Linden sim.

Somebody just told me about this thread. I looked at Iris. This proposal is the only sensible thing to do. Please preserve Iris as a Linden sim.

Good thread, Loki. Checking the auction boards I notice that NO land in Iris is up for auction. Checking the datafields on sample plots in Iris I notice that LL has NOT entered tags like 001, 002, etc., which they seem to do as a preliminary step to placing plots on the auction boards.
Looks like it's a plausible suggestion to have Iris become a Linden telehub sim. My personal opinion is that Iris has potential to be as scenic as Waterhead is in the original continent.

Looks like it's a plausible suggestion to have Iris become a Linden telehub sim. My personal opinion is that Iris has potential to be as scenic as Waterhead is in the original continent. Turn on "view/property owners". The land in Iris between the walkways is purple. It does not have its named tag of 001, 002 but the colour purple means it is slated for auction -- otherwise it would be red and have the title PROTECTED. Currently if you fly around Iris with view/property owner on you will see red and PROTECTED where the walkways/roads are and IRIS MATURE and purple where the land in between the walkways is situated. That colour contrast alone, as you can see from my pictures from it in the other thread, tells you what the Lindens' plans are. They didn't keep it all red. The land is in the auction process. It is slated by the Lindens for auction. It may not have had its parcel number put on it, but it is slated for auction. That's what Lindens always do with land slated for auction. I once saw some purple land in Brown in a park that seemed to be red and protected. I asked the Lindens why it was purple, not red, but never really got a clear answer. Maybe they were still mulling over whether to auction. The fact is that in 99 out of 100 cases, land turned purple by the Governor, and not red, is slated for auction. It can take 7-10 days normally for land turned purple to reach the actual auction boards with a number. I've seen this numerous times in the game. Lindens ALWAYS turn land purple first THEN put in the tags a few days later. I've seen this hundreds of time, as has anybody else who has watched the auction process. Perhaps the Lindens meant to have Iris become something scenic like Waterhead. But Waterhead, when it was created -- and I saw those early days -- was always red, and is still red, and was never purple. I'm not for making Iris a pristine wilderness national park. The reason is because it is a departure from practice which does not have the support of those who bought land in the new continent so far. I'm proposing an alternative to the usual mall blight around telehubs by suggesting small parcels for small business as an alternative (maybe Lindens should even build those stalls and auction them as they do for Luna). It would be inappropriate for those who have huge sales on the rest of the grid, including at telehubs, to get all treehuggy now as part of some marketing ploy for their products and services creating an image as a wilderness protector. There are places for wilderness protection -- when there are people to pay for it or a way for the Lindens to justify it. The telehub at Iris is not one of them.

The land does have parcels marked as auction, however, when looking at the main map.
I would also prefer it to be left unsold, or perhaps even rented for some project area like Anzere was. LL can still get their money that way and we get a better chance of having a nicer environment around a telehub.
If they do still intend to sell this, why not just leave the plots immediately around it unsold? That way those of us with average draw distances can still get up and out relatively quickly and safely.

Afternoon Prok, From: Prokofy Neva I'm not for making Iris a pristine wilderness national park. We apparently posted around the same time, I suggested something in the middle. But I do not see any big issue with your idea as long as its controlled a bit. The stalls in Boardman are probably a better comparison to what you're asking. Does Brown have the same setup? It appears to be a clone of Boardman.

Finally, a Hub in the New Continent, i.e., NW. The Lindens should find some way of providing Landing Points devoid, repeat DEVOID, of big, ugly malls, etc. This would keep the NW decidedly residential yet more easily accessible to owners, visitors, et al.

Yes to everybody who said they want the land kept unsold. No to stalls with signs and vendors in them. The telehub temple looks exotic and remote. Why make it look like a tourist attraction surrounded by cheap souvenier stands?

Thanks for the support. I have argued the point more in depth on another thread and I am worn out.
I think it is ashamed to see this unique hub suffer the same fate as every other hub. It is something special and a jewel of this northern region. It seems to me that the people that settle in the adjoining sims would appreciate a unique entry into their part of the world.
