LL needs to incinerate cash - and quick! Inflation is getting out of hand.
Why not raise the fees on listing your place in the inworld SL directory? Currently, it costs L$30 per week to be listed... why not boost that amount to say L$500 per week?
This would cut down on the amount of crap advertised in the directory and also provide a good sink for L$s.
WHIP INFLATION NOW!!

$30L to $500L ? I suspect that so many people would stop listing in the directory, that it would become less of a sink than it is now. Why not give the recent changes time to take effect? Selling some sims for $L would be a great way to remove some excess $L.

I'm for any proposal that takes L$ OUT of the economy. Where is that Alan Greenspan-esq person LL hired? What is he doing?!

WHIP INFLATION NOW!! The figure you quoted would kill many small businesses and stop many more even getting off the ground. We should get away from the idea of increasing costs of current features, and instead look at adding new features to provide more sinks. DISCLAIMER: I am not suggesting that we need more sinks, just suggesting a better direction if they were needed. If we get into another are they/not needed debate I will stick forks into my eyes. Damn, that's gonna entice many. *goes to kitchen draw*

No matter what changes are made - drastic ones like you are suggesting Jamie are just gonna cause a panic and *resession* for lack of a better word. When people are afraid they will not have enough money for what they need they stop spending and hoard money. And if no one is buying it doesn't matter how low the value of the $L goes....

WHIP INFLATION NOW!! Why don't we just post random suggestions to the Land and the Economy forum?!?! Oh wait you're already doing that 1. Close to no one would list if it cost L$500 2. Its useful to have as many places listed so they are easy to find for the consumer, as well as the seller. 3. There's already a high cost version of listing fees, its called classifieds..

I'm the only one speaking out because everybody else is nut-less and would rather take it up the rump than get off it to do anything.

Jamie,
I agree with you - the fee is ridiculously low. While a jump from $30 to $500/wk is excessive, perhaps something more reasonable like $150-$200 or so would hardly be overly burdensome. Additionally, I think there should be a fee to list land for sale in the land directory as well - it should not just be automatically listed for free.

This is the *only* option we have to search for plots. If they're not listed in places we'd have to remember and manually enter the Sim and Co-Ords to get there.. The Classifieds listings are the expencive version for extra visibility, the places listing is for convenience, in my opinion anyway.. But I partially agree about the land for sale thing..
