SL Economic Statistics: Acres to Square Meters Conversion

LL has released their first set of economic statistics for SL at:

Bizarely, these stats list land areas in acres--which are meaningful to farmers in the US and some parts of the UK. For those of us who are not farmers, I've converted the acre measurments into square meters:

Total Acres for Sale: 2,707 acres = 10,954,840 m2

Acres Auctioned (April'06): 597 acres = 2,415,973 m2
Acres Auctioned (May'06 to date): 134 acres = 542,279 m2

Total Acres Sold by Residents (April'06): 4,249 acres = 17,195,093 m2
Total Acres Sold by Residents (May'06 to date): 1,338 acres = 5,414,694 m2

Anybody have the total meters that exist in SL?

Here is a map of SL as of a week ago. It has been reduced to 2 colors water (blue) and land (white). If someone has a way to count the pixels of the white color (photoshop plugin?), then divide by 64 (each sim is 8x8 pixels in this image), you get the number of sims. From that you can calculate acres or square meters (or cubits if you prefer).

I'm estimating SL's (resident owned) land mass to be the size of the state of Mass.

According the the Econ. Stats, 847 islands are owned. 65 square kms per island, 55k square km, which is about 34k square miles...Mass is 35k square miles.

847 isles * 65,536 m^2 = 55,508,992 m^2
55,508,992 m^2 / 1000 = 55,508.992 km^2
55,508.992 km^2 * .621371192 = 34,491.689 miles^2 (1 kilometer = 0.621371192 miles)

Am I missing something?

I think that SL-Acres aren't the same size as RL ones. I think they're 4096m2 rather than the 4046(ish) that they ought to be. Lawrence posted something about it ages ago, back in the Hotline to Linden rather than SLA days IIRC.
